Priyanka Chopra’s MADAMJI becomes victim of plagiarism

The recent news about Priyanka Chopra’s much ambitious film MADAMJI being shelved has opened a Pandora’s Box about plagiarism within the industry itself. Though plagiarism is a crime worldwide yet it is shamelessly being violated since ages.

According to reports Priyanka Chopra’s MADAMJI was a critical look at the sudden and incredible rise of a bar dancer to a celebrated politician. The movie was to be produced by Priyanka Chopra’s under the competent direction of Madhur Bhandarkar, famous for making such movies. However after reports of Mallika Sherawat’s movie DIRTY POLITICS were releases Priyanka had to shelve the movie as its script is exceedingly borrowed from her subject.

Listen to Priyanka Chopra Songs on Raaga.com

Bollywood is a victim of such plagiarism since long. Several films in the past were announced and even their trailers were released but as the subjects were leaked these films had to be shelved.

After the successful Munnabhai series Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi’s third installment called MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA was announced. In fact even its trailer was released along with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s EKLAVYA but when its director Raju Hirani got the news that the concept his movie about two Indian trying to bring peace in America was borrowed by Karan Johar in his Shah Rukh Khan starrer MY NAME IS KHAN, he dropped the movie.

Likewise way back in the 50’s when the legendary filmmaker K Asif began his magnum opus MUGHAL-E-AZAM, staring Dilip Kumar, Prithivraj Kapoor and Madhubala, the story of the film got leaked and a love story with the backdrop of Mughal Empire was written in haste and released in 1953 with the title ANARKALI.

The film was directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal and based on the historical legend of the Mughal emperor Jahangir. As per the legend Jahangir revolted against his father Akbar over his love for a common girl called ANARKALI. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai and Mubark.

What is interesting in this case is that though ANARKALI was huge hit and had a similar plot to K.Asif’s MUGHAL-E-AZAM, butAsif sahib did not shelve his film out of fear of a debacle?

He was confident that his film was magnum opus and had confidence in his abilities as a filmmaker. Thus despite filmmaker warning him to shelve the film K Asif went ahead and made the film. Rest is history MUGHAL-E-AZAM is still a hit while people rarely remember ANARKALI

In nut shell the only solution to curb plagiarism is to take it by its horn, as K Asif did, and prove our mastery over it, instead of running away from it!

Priyadarshan - Saviour of Comedies in Bollywood

After Mehmood, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Gulzar, Basu Chatterjee and David Dhawan the filmmaker who has given a new lease of life to Comedy in Bollywood is none other than South Sensational filmmaker Priyadarshan. With HERA PHERI he flooded Bollywood with many super hit comedies like MALAMAAL WEEKLY, HULCHUL, MUSKURAHAT, KHATTA MEETHA, HUNGAMA, GARAM MASALA etc

January 30, marks the birthday of the genius filmmaker; Raaga.Com wishes him birthday greetings.

Comedies in Bollywood is a hard nut to crack due to its less demand over romance and action nevertheless whenever a great comedy has been made like CHALTI KA NAAM GAADI, PYAR KIYE JAA, PADOSAN, ANGOOR, CHUPKE CHUPKE, BOMBAY TO GOA, GOLMAAL, SHAUKEEN, ANDAAZ APNA APNA, etc. people have applauded it. However in 1990 when the Khan Trilogy viz. Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh ruled the roost comedy got a major setback and it was south’s marvelous filmmaker Priyadarshan reviewing it with a bang in the year 2000 with HERA PHERI.

Thus Priyadarshan’s shoe string budget comedy, ‘HERA PHERI’ doing mind blowing business, it opened flood gates for comedies like DULHAN HUM LE JAYEENGE, CHAL MERE BHAI, MELA , HADH KAR DI AAPNE. JORU KA GULAM, KUNWARA etc. however, none had the magic of Priyadarshan and the poor response to these movies restrained film makers from burning their hands as a result release of comedies in 2001and 2002 nosedived.

What came as a shock was that the usually consistent and the ‘Baap of comedies’, David Dhawan too, couldn’t escape the spate of flops as he came down trembling with a string of flops like ANARI NO. 1, AUNTY NO. 1, DULHAN HUM LE JAYEENGE ETC. Even his lucky mascots Govinda and Sanjay Dutt could not save him in his next movie EK AUR EK GYARAH.

However, it was once again master of comedy Priyadarshan, who with his movie HUNGAMA opened new vistas for comedies.

One prays the trend continues – after all – Hasna zaroori hain!!!

HAWAIZAADA actor Ayushmann Khurrana believes Bollywood rewards talent

Generally seeking entry into Bollywood is a regarded as daunting task due to the dominance of stars kids hogging limelight. While the ‘outsiders’ without the so-called ‘Godfather’ stand in long queue waiting with bated breath to get an opportunity.

However contrast to the popular opinion Ayushmann Khurrana, celebrated Indian television anchor, film actor and singer, who rose to fame with Shoojit Sircar's romantic comedy VICKY DONOR and is awaiting the release of his forthcoming film, HAWAIZAADA believes that the Bollywood gives a fair chance to 'outsiders' to prove themselves.

In an interview Ayushmann Khurrana said, “The film industry has a lot of acceptance towards the outsiders. It's open to outsiders, who are getting a fair chance to prove themselves. At the end of the day, it's your talent that works for you.”

After seriously thinking Ayushmann Khurrana’s statement holds sense because Bollywood has always rewarded actors with talent. In the early 70’s when there was a hoard of actors churning out from the FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) Bollywood accepted actors with talent with open hands, ignoring their looks and background. It was sheer talent that mattered.

Thus actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Danny, Shatrughan Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Mithun Chakraborty etc. were able to make their presence despite lacking the essential ‘Chocolate Looks’.

In addition popular directors like Subhash Ghai, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, David Dhawan and Sanjay Lila Bansali etc were too given break and they proved their distinction.

Interestingly the director of HAWAIZAADA, Vibhu Puri is also an alumnus of FTII. Hence Ayushmann Khurrana has suggested Vibhu to host a screening of the film for the institute and take their reaction.

HAWAIZAADA depicts the novel tale of Shivkar Talpade, an Indian scholar, who flew the first ever unmanned plane eight years before the Wright Brothers!

The movie has been granted Tax Free status in Uttar Pardesh for exploring the unsung Indian scholar.

Shah Rukh Khan’s loss is Dhanush Gain?

Readers may be puzzled with the hedaline but the fact is R. Balki had originally approached Shah Rukh Khan opposite Amitabh Bachchan in his upcoming film SHAMITABH but destiny had other plans and Shah Rukh’s loss became Dhanush’s gain.

Recently in an interview during film promotion of SHAMITABH, filmmaker R. Balki confirmed that he had approached Shah Rukh Khan for the role that eventually is being played south’s sensational actor Dhanush

Balki said, “The script of SHAMITABH is a clash of egos of two exceptionally great actors. Hence the script demanded two powerful and competent actors having equal potential, who collectively conquer multiple obstacles and reach zenith of success.”

He added, “The moral of SHAMITABH is that it takes two people to do things together. One person cannot do it all alone. It’s always about a team and not about an individual. So I needed someone who can match the calibre and the emotions of Amitji and who else better than Shah Rukh Khan. However Shah Rukh had his own reservation hence after Shah Rukh Khan opted out of the film, I was in dilemma and sought Bachchan’s suggestion.”

Balki recalls, “Once I was seated with Amitabh Bachchan. While I was in fix thinking about which actor to approach for Shah Rukh’s role Bachchan sahib causally asked me that if I was to make the same movie down South than whom would I cast in the lead roles? I promptly replied Rajinikanth and Dhanush! That’s when Bachchan Sahib suggested me to cast Dhanush.”

One wonder will SHAMITABH prove DARR for Dhanush because if readers may recollect Yash Chopra had originally approached Aamir Khan in DARR but he declined and Yashji signed a upcoming actor Shah Rukh Khan and rest is history!

O. P. Nayyar - Badshaah of Beats

Jaaiye Aap Kahaan Jaayenge

Ye Nazar Laut Ke Phir Aayegii…..

True words because the music of O.P.Nayyar cannot erase from our minds however old it may become it will only glitter like pure gold.

Initally the critics who wrote him ‘off’ as plagiarist but later wrote rims of papers praising him and his so called, ‘New Brand of Music’ and showering with titles like like Master of Rhythm, King of Melody, Badshaah of Beats etc after O.P.Nayyar’s music rode high at the box-office.

Listen to OP. Nayyar Songs on Raaga.com

The genius of O.P.Nayyar is that he is the only music director who withstood five decades and more in the Hindi Film Industry and that too- ‘without the service of the melody queen, Lata Mangeshkar’!

And what’s more… this master of melody didn’t inheriented music from any musical gharana nor did he take any formal training from any renowned sangeet ustaads. Neither his career boosted any fire cracking triumphs at the box office in his debutant releases. Yet this underdog music director took the Hindi film industry by its horns in the 50’s and 60’s giving a run for the money for the reigning musical giants like Naushad, Jaidev, S.D.Burman, Roshan, Khayyam, C.Ramchandra, Hemant Kumar and even, the magical wonder- duo Shankar Jaikishen.

With Guru Dutt’s AAR PAAR he marked his beginning. What added feather in his cap was the distinction of his song – Babuji dheere chalna…

Oopee formed a unique trilogy with his two lead playback singers viz., Mohd. Rafi and Geeta Dutt after AAR PAAR.

With the exit of Geeta Dutt oopee opted for Aasha than Lata! Why? One would wonder? When asked?, the maestro replies, “The reason is simple. Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘thin’ voice didn’t suite my style.”

Unconvinced you ask, “Isn’t there being a clash of egos between you two?” to this Oopee surrenders, “Yes at some point of time there had been some ego clashes between us and I proved my superiority by succeeding without her”.

Thus began the hate war between the two and continued till the genius music director bid adieu from film industry .

While Oopee shared a hate relationship with Lata Mangeshkar on the other hand he had a soft corner for her younger sister, Asha Bhosale. Whom he rated even better than Lata Mangeshkar. In fact, praising Asha Bhosale, in one of his interviews Oopee has gone on to say, “If Lata is born once in hundred years, then an Asha is born in two hundred years!”

Raaga.Com pays homage to the great music director on his death anniversary.

Isn’t SRK’s Statement Regarding Award Diplomatic?

Awards and Shah Rukh Khan go hand in hand. Over the years they have become synonymous. No award function is complete without Shah Rukh Khan, particularly Filmfare Awards, regarded as the country’s most prestigious award as it is the First Commercial Cinema Awards started by Times of India publication in 1954.

Shah Rukh Khan has received 15 awards, 8 of which are in Best Actor category, a record shared with Dilip Kumar from thirty nominations. Out of the 15, he has won 3 Special Awards; 2 Filmfare Power Awards (2004, 2005) according to the Filmfare Power List and 1 Filmfare Special Award Swiss Consulate Trophy (2002).

Listen to Shahrukh Khan Songs on Raaga.com

What’s more interesting is that besides Best Actor Shah Rukh Khan has won award in multiple categories like Best Debut - DEEWANA; Critics Award for Best Actor- MOHABBATEIN; Best Villain- ANJAAM. In fact for BAADSHAH he was even nominated as Best Comedian.!

However in this years’ Filmfare Awards nomination list when his name was missing eye brows were raised.

It may be noted Filmfare's 2015 nominations for the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) list includes Hrithik Roshan (BANG BANG), Aamir Khan (PK), Shahid Kapoor (HAIDER), Akshay Kumar (HOLIDAY) and Randeep Hooda (RANG RASIYA).

However instead of being sad or fuming Shah Rukh Khan has taken the decision in the right sprit. Shah Rukh Khan’s in a statement to daily confessed, “I haven't acted well enough in HAPPY NEW YEAR. Yes, the film has done very well but as an actor I don't think I deserve to be nominated.”

Though Shah Rukh Khan’s statement is candid and laudable but is there something fishy?

Because if Shah Rukh Khan has not acted well enough and do not deserve nomination than how on earth did he accept the Screen Award as Best Actor for HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Isn’t SRK’s statement diplomatic? Probably like the fable of fox and the grapes when the fox does not get the grapes he exclaims - The grapes are sour!!!

Salim Khan declines Padma Shri award

Eminent script writer Salim Khan and father of superstar Salman Khan has turned down the government of India’s prestigious Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian award claiming the award belittles his contribution and he deserves Padma Bhushan award instead.

It may be noted that Salim Khan is the renowned writer who along with Javed Akhtar made the inimitable team of Salim Javed in the 70’s and gave as many as 19 Golden Jubilee hits in a row! Their hit list includs super hit films like ZANJEER, DEEWAAR, SHOLAY, TRISHUL, SEETA AUR GEETA, YADOON KI BARAAT, DON, KRANTI, SHAAN, SHAKTI, MR. INDIA etc.

Explaining the reason for declining the top honor an annoyed Salim Khan said, “It is really tragic that even after 55 years and over 40 films, the government is giving me a Padma Shri award, which my juniors have received quite long back.”

He added, “What’s most aching is that while my earstwhile partner, Javed Akhtar, has received both a Padma Shri and a Padma Bhushan, and I am offered just a Padma Shri that too after so many years.”

Supporting Salim Khan, eminent editor of Screen cine weekly, Udaya Tara Nayar said, “Its true Salim Khan’s contribution to Indian Cinema is massive. If they wanted to honour him, they could have given him the Padma Bhushan or Padma Vibhushan."

But dirty politics is the part of every award and the government’s civilian Padma awards are no exception.

Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan Awarded Padma Vibhushan Award

Thespian Dilip Kumar and star of the millennium Amitabh Bachchan have been crowned the prestigious Padma Vibhushan Award – the government of India’s second highest civilian award. It ranks behind the Bharat Ratna and comes before the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

Though Dilip Kumar has been awarded Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Dadasaheb Phalke Award (Outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema) in 1994 but looking at his immense contribution to Indian cinema the film industry has been demanding a Bharat Ratna from Dilip Kumar for the past five years but in vain.

Regarding Amitabh Bachchan the actor won his first Padma Shri in 1984 and the Padma Bhushan in 2001. However he is still to get the most distinction award in Indian Cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

While Amiatbh Bachchan has humble expressed his joy over the award, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised eye brows and demanded that Amiatbh Bachchan’s contribution to Indian Cinema is far more and he deserves Bharat Ratna!

Padma Vibhushan Award is the most prestigious award and has been given only to a few selected luminaries in Indian Cinema since the inception of the awards in 1954.

Following is the list of eminent film personality who won Padma Vibhushan Award for their valuable contribution in Indian Cinema….

Satyajit Ray(1976); V. Shantaram (1992); Lata Mangeshkar (1999); Hrishikesh Mukherjee (2001); Adoor Gopalakrishnan (2006); Asha Bhosle (2008); Zohra Sehgal (2010); Akkineni Nageshwara Rao (2011) ; Bhupen Hazarika ( 2012) and Dilip Kumar (2015) and Amitabh Bachchan (2015)

Who says ‘Chocolate’ looks matter in Bollywood?

Bollywood is generally identified with heroes having Chocolate looks and debonair personalities likes Dharmendra or Salman Khan. But there is an exception because Bollywood has also patron actors who lacked the so called ‘Chikna’ looks and yet made their marks in films. One such legendary actor is Naseeruddin Shah.

In fact at the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival Naseeruddin Shah, thanked god for his not so charming looks. Readers may wonder why?

Well speaking on the occasion Naseer revealed, “When I ventured into Bollywood it was ruled by Chocolate heroes like Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shashi Kapoor etc and I knew it would be a tough task for an actor like me with ordinary looks to make my presence felt. But call it fortune at the same time a filmmaker called Shyam Benegal was looking for actors with ordinary looks. He spotted me and happened to cast me in his film NISHANT, which till date remains my most cherished role and closest movie to my heart.”

Naseer added, “No doubt my looks played an important role in me getting NISHANT but the movie opened a floodgates for me to do many path breaking movies like MANTHAN and JUNOON.”

Like Naseer the other actor who approve his looks paving a great path in Bollywood is contemporary actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the actor who is basking limelight thanks to his numerous hits films like GANGS OF WASSEYPUR, TALAASH and of course Salman Khan’s hit film KICK.

In an interview Nawazuddin Siddiqui candidly confessed, “When I landed in Mumbai I had no starry dreams of becoming a star because I knew I had an ordinary face and I was confident that it was my looks that would open doors for quality roles. As expected it happened though after a decade!”

Comedian M S Narayana’s memory will continue to entertain!

German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, “perhaps I know why it is man alone who laughs: He alone suffers so deeply that he had to invent laughter!!!’

True words but is laughter so easy to drive? No that’s the reason cinema has developed actor specialist in the art of creating humor and one such veteran comedian was M.S. Narayana, the dynamic Telugu cinema humorist who bid adieu on Friday, leaving millions of fans in agony and tears.

Raaga.Com pays humble homage to the legendary comedian and pray his soul rest in peace in heaven.

Known for his amazing command in timing and comic expressions, M.S. Narayana blazed the screen with his mere presence. He was a master in his art and with his rib tickling witty dialogues he sent the seated audience in cinema halls into peals of laughter.

In a career of two decades he did over 750 films. His most popular films include DOOKUDU, BAADSHAH, READY and ATTARINTIKI DAAREDI etc. His latest film PATAAS hit the screens on Friday and his upcoming films include REY and SHANKARA.

M.S. Narayana was born in Nidamarru village near Bhimavaram in West Godavari District on April 16, 1951. He had a passion for art and he had groomed his talent in theatre. Though M.S. Narayana played a buffoon on the screen, readers would be surprised to know that he was a learned man. Before joining cinema he was a lecturer in collage! In fact he began his career in films as a successful writer and later became a comedian. He has written dialogues for several films, including Suman starrer ALEXANDER.

M.S. Narayana was famous for his Inimitable and amusing mannerism, more particularly his drunken act like the Bollywood yesteryear comedians Johnny Walker and Kesto Mukerjee, the duo who were recognized, solely for their drunken role. Besides this M.S. Narayana’s other specialty was mimicking superstars like Rajinikanth, Balakrishna, Ramcharan Tej and other.

He had won several awards, including the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Male Comedian five times and the Filmfare Award for DOOKUDU

Mourning M.S. Narayana’s tragic death Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu rightly said, “M S Narayana made us laugh hard and touched every element of human spirit. His relentless energy was thrilling. His memories and his work will continue to entertain and stay with us.”

According to Sascha Sippy, Chairman of Sholay Media and Entertainment, “SHOLAY is an all time classic and over the years it has entertained four generations. Hence when POGO, Graphic India, discussed the possibility of exploiting the classic movie into a cartoon series I was excited because the film is a milestone and I believe it should be made available to the viewers in every possible way for generations to come.”

Sharad Devarajan, Graphic's co-founder and CEO briefing the media about the new look of SHOLAY for small screen said, “SHOLAY remains the quintessential film to define Bollywood cinema. Javed Akhtar calls society to protest against bawdy lyrics

‘Munni Badnam Hui…’, ‘Chikni Chameli…’, ‘Halkat Jawaani…’, ‘Sheila Ki Jaawaani…’, ‘Oo La La….’ ‘Laila teri le legi…’

Aggravated at such meaningless and bawdy lyrics eminent script writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar expressed his reservation at the recent ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival 2015. Speaking at the ‘Gaate Jaye Banjara: Film songs- Urdu, Hindu, Hindustani session, Javed Akhtar called upon the society to protest against the onslaught of such stupid lyrics.

He wondered, “When people protest against something illegal than why they don’t protest against such lewd songs which are perhaps the prime reason behind raising crime against women.

Listen to Javed Akhtar Songs on Raaga.com

Expressing concern over the degrading lyrics in movie he recalled, “Songs in the golden era had philosophy of life. Songs like Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisar ...; Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhaata Chala Gaya....; Kasmen Vaade Pyar Wafa Sab Baatein Hain Baaton Ka Kya...; Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhaana ....” had sensibility.

“Songs had elements of social justice and human values but that has vanished now and it is very sad that no one is thinking of that," lamented Akhtar as he called upon the audience to raise a voice against vulgarity.

Poking satirically on the degradation of lyrics, Javed Akhtar mourned, “Tragically, today lyrics have become more of viewing rather than listening!!! Thus the marketing team is more interested in the lyricist filling the gaps of the rhythm rather than pen some splendid poetry.”

Javed firmly believes that there no dearth of talent but it is the filmmakers who do not wish to experiment with good and potent poetry. Citing example of the neighboring country, Pakistan, Javed countered that if ghazals and other traditional music formats continued to flourish there than why not India?

Was Yo Yo Honey Singh victim of drug abuse?

Singing sensation Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is back but his sudden disappearance has raised many questions and the most talked about being that he has been a victim of drug abuse and had been secretly undergoing treatment at Chandigarh-based rehabilitation centre!

Though officially neither Yo Yo Honey Singh nor his wife or any family member have acknowledged the fact but according to parapazzi there were rumors that Yo Yo Honey Singh was battling with ill health due to drug abuse.

However, his close friends and family members have denied such allegations. But in a recent interview to a leading newspaper his wife Shalini has accepted that Honey is physically and emotionally so weak that he often breaks down.

Bollywood celebrities suffering from depression is quite familiar but the tragedy is that none come forward due to fear of social stigma.

Recently Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, however dared to break the norms and opened her heart regarding the depression that she underwent last year. She daringly confessed that during the making of HAPPY NEW YEAR, she was in acute depression and eventually approached a psychologist for consultation.

Overwhelmed by Deepika’s bold declaration Amitabh Bachchan had applauded the actress to accept the bitter truth and share it among her fans and society so that umpteen who shy away from visiting psychologist for consultation and slowly kill themselves in agony, may get strength and can cure them from isolation.

But alas! Unlike Deepika Padukone there are few actors who have dared to acknowledge that they have undergone anxiety and depression.

Akshay Kumar overwhelmed by BABY… wishes to show it to PM Modi

Khiladi Kumar aka Akshay Kumar is so much impressed by the end result of his forthcoming movie BABY that he has an intense desire to show the film to Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

On being quizzed the reason, Akshay Kumar says, “BABY is a superlative film made by director Neeraj Pandey that brings to light how the government of India earnestly tries to safeguard the common man of India by the lethal terrorist attacks. Hence I wish Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi watch this film because is a man of vision. He knows how to get works done and who will bring a lot of significant changes in the Indian economy.”

Though the movie focuses on the deadly issue of terrorism one would wonder than what is the significance of the title BABY?

"Mujhe bhi laga ki is movie ka naam Baby kyun hai? (I too was surprised and taken aback at the title?.) confides Akshay Kumar, “But when filmmaker Neeraj Pandey told me that the title was actually the code name of the Secret Mission for which top 25 commandos were exclusively trained by the Delhi police, I sighed relief.”

Besides an intriguing and thrilling story the highlight of the movie is Akshay Kumar’s daring action scenes, which the actor has done himself. "Neeraj has a thing for logical things, so all my fight sequences are very believable unlike seen in other movies,” quips Akshay Kumar.

Priya Banerjee - Yet another South Actress enters Bollywood

After Asin, Ileana D’Cruz, Shruti Haasan the new South Indian beauty to join Bollywood is Priya Banerjee, who after her stint in Tamil and Telugu films is making her foray in Bollywood opposite none other than Bollywood top actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Sanjay Gupta’s much publicized film JAZBAA.

Sanjay Gupta briefing the media about introducing Priya Banerjee in Bollywood said, “I was looking out for a new heroine with a foreign upbringing. Incidentally somebody gave me a video of Priya’s Tamil film and I was floored as she fitted the role to a perfect ‘T’.”

“Soon after watching the film I asked my casting director to trace the actress and confirm that she hasn't signed any other Hindi film, we auditioned her, and she was impressive. She is a fine actor and plays an important role in the film", informed Gupta.

Born and brought up in Canada, Priya Banerjee has the distinction of being Miss Photogenic at the Miss World Canada in 2011. Since her childhood she aspired to be an actress. Hence she also got herself trained in Kathak and Rabindra Sangeet(classical music) in Canada and even did many stage performances in Canada.

A graduate in International marketing and computer science, Priya Banerjee moved to Mumbai in 2012 and enrolled herself at Anupam Kher’s acting institute called ‘Actor Prepares’, regarded as India’s finest acting school for talented aspiring actors.

In an interview Priya said, “I was fascinated with Indian films, I have grown up watching Bollywood cinema. I started with SHOLAY my all-time favourite.”

Speaking about her debut film she said, “After completing my acting course I had returned to Canada when a friend informed me that famous Telugu actor cum director Adivi Sesh was looking for a debutant actress hence I sent my video and got selected for the film KISS and rest is history.”

JAZBAA is the much publicized film not only because it is the comeback film of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but the movie brings multiple talented actors from both commercial and art cinema like Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi, Atul Kulkarni, Anupam Kher along with Siddhanth Kapoor and John Abraham.

What’s Common between Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan?

Bollywood rivalry is common. Be it the rivalry between the Three Khan’s and as regards actresses Bollywood is famous for its axiom ‘Actresses can never be good friends’! Bollywood has a long list like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor; Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma; Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha etc.

However an exceptional example was seen recently when actress Deepika Padukone bagged the Best Actress award for Happy New Year at the Screen Awards and graciously dedicated her award to the most deserving actress of the year viz. Kangana Ranaut, who is excellent in her movie QUEEN but incidentally has been ignored the honor till now.

While picking her Screen Best Actress Award Deepika Padukone, who is known for opening her heart out candidly confessed, “Thank you for this award, but I believe that this year belonged to Kangana. So, Kangana, this one’s for you.”

Deepika Padukone’s humane gesture takes one memory down lane to the year 1992 when Amiatbh Bachchan was awarded the Best Actor Filmfare Award for his marvelous performance of a gangster turned Good Samaritan in Mukul Anand’s HUM. However that year Sanjay Dutt had given his career’s most powerhouse performance in Lawrence D'Souza’s SAAJAN, starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Salman Khan

The highlight of the movie was that Sanjay Dutt, unlike is routine image of an action hero, played a tragic role of a handicapped poet, who secretly loves the heroine fearing her rejection being disabled. The movie was super hit not only for its song but the splendid performance of Sanjay Dutt

Hence when Amitabh Bachchan went up the dice to receive the award he dedicated the award to Sanjay and called him up on stage and himself handed his award to him.

So now you know what is common between Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone
