Kangana Ranaut To Relive Meena Kumari on Silver Screen

Readers may be aware that actress Kangna Ranaut had played yesteryear actress Praveen Babi in Mahesh Bhatt’s emotional movie WOH LAMHE, which was inspired from Parveen Babi's life, her battle with schizophrenia and her relationship with Mahesh Bhatt to whom she was a lover as well as a mentor in his struggling days.

According to recent reports Kangna Ranaut has now been approached by film producer Sunil Bohra who is toying of making a biopic on the legendary actress Meena Kumari , who ruled Bollywood in the 50’s and 60’s with hit films like PARINEETA, BAIJU BAWRA, PAKEEZAH, SAAHIB BIBI AUR GHULAM and DIL APNA AUR PREET PARAI, DIL EK MANDIR etc to her credit.

According to reports Sunil Bohra who owns the right of eminent journalist, Vinod Mehta's book, Meena Kumari: The Classic Biography is making an adaption of the same book and has roped in Tigmanshu Dhulia, the famous director who made PAAN SINGH TOMAR and SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER to direct the film.

Listen to Meena Kumari Songs on

Kangna Ranaut, who had earlier played an actress role of the 70’s in Milan Luthria's ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI has read the book. She is quite excited about the role because Meena Kumari’s life was packed with many upheavals and this would give an excellent opportunity for Kangna to explore her histrionics.

Interestedly the role was initially offered to Manisha Koirala but the movie went into trouble after Tajdar Amrohi, son of late filmmaker Kamal Amrohi and stepson of legendary actress Meena Kumari, raised eyebrows that movie was made without his consent.

Tajdar Amrohi was angrier because he himself is making a movie on Meena Kumari. Lambasting Tigmanshu Dhulia he told media, “People want to dig up the dead, without having the decency of realizing that it may hurt the feelings of those close to her. Tigmanshu is a good filmmaker, but he should have come to me first for my inputs before making the announcement. I'm here to protect my chhoti ammi's integrity. I've always considered her my mother, not stepmother.

Besides, I'm already making a film on her called MEENA BAA KAMAAL (Meena - the extraordinary), starring a newcomer who bears an uncanny resemblance to her.

What makes India the most formidable team is that they were the underdogs when the entered the World Cup. They were completely whitewashed in the test series against Australia. However hats off to Dhoni he peeped enough energy in the boys so much so that team India made a comeback with a vengeances! Just as a wounded tiger becomes more lethal on being injured likewise India pounced upon its opponents in the World Cup matches after a humiliating defeat in Australia.

India’s strength as a powerful team can be gauged from the fact that team India bowled out all their seven opponents and registered 10 wickets win on all the seven teams in a row thus creating a record in the World Cup. In addition each player chipped in when required. Rohit Sharma, who was criticized maximum turned out to be the dark horse in the match against Bangladesh.

Dhoni himself believes, "We have won all the matches in a row. Such a thing has never really happened with the Indian cricket team in the past, so it's definitely a big positive," he said. "What's important is to still keep improving. Whatever we have not done right in this game, we would like to do it properly in the next one, “he quipped.

Dhoni’s captaincy is thus winning applause from all quarters. Even his foes are praising Dhoni beyond limit. In fact even Australia Captain Michael Clarke is all praises for Dhoni.

“I think MS Dhoni deserves a lot of credit the way he's been able to turn things around as the leader, as the captain,” he said and added, “India is obviously playing a lot better than they were throughout the start of the summer and leading into the World Cup. We are looking forward to meet them in the semi final.”

Thus be prepared for an explosive semi final as Dhoni and his men in blue will leave no stone unturned to clinch the semi final against the mighty Australia. It would be surely a great match to watch since it’s always fun to watch the giants butt heads.

Katrina Kaif : “I don’t think working with Bollywood ‘Khan’s’ Is Everything!”

Sex bomb Katrina Kaif has created a flutter in Bollywood with her stunning remark stating that more than working with the ‘Khans’ of Bollywood she is more interested in working in good films and do work!

In an interview to a leading national daily she categorically said, “People want to work with Khans because they are icons of Hindi cinema, but I don’t think working with the three Khan’s of Bollywood is everything.” “If you are an actor, your job is to act and be part of a good film and do good work,” she quipped!

Katrina who has worked with all the three Khans viz. Shah Rukh Khan in JAB TAK HAIN JAAN; Salman Khan (EK THA TIGER) and Aamir Khan (DHOOM 3) is focusing on doing sensible films where she could explore her histrionics as an actress and for this she doesn’t mind with whom she is working.

“Every actor aspires for creative satisfaction and this is the reason I am concentrating on films that give me an opportunity to act,” she informed.

Regarding her work with the Khans of Bollywood she said, “Even in the films which I’ve done with Salman and Shah Rukh - ‘EK THA TIGER’ and ‘JAB TAK HAI JAAN’ - both were extremely strong roles for me. So, I don’t think it’s just about whom you are acting with,”

Sticking to her new aspiration to act in intellectual films Katrina is keeping her fingers crossed for her upcoming film FITOOR, in which she shares screen opposite Aditya Roy Kapur and has the pleasure of working opposite veteran actress Rekha.

FITOOR is being directed by young and intelligent filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who has to his credits critically acclaimed movies like ROCK ON!! and KAI PO CHE!

Speaking about the her latest film FITOOR Katrina said, “The movie is based on the classic novel ‘Great Expectations’ written by celebrated English author Charles Dickens’. In this movie I play a Pakistani girl. The movie is sentimental tale of passionate relationship between three characters - a young Kashmiri boy named Noor (Aditya), his girlfriend Firdaus (myself) and the Begum (Rekha). I am quite excited about the movie.”

M.S. Dhoni becomes India’s First Captain to register 100 ODI wins

‘Captain Cool’ aka Mahendra Singh Dhoni added yet another feather in his already congested cap by becoming India’s First Captain and the third in the world to achieve the remarkable milestone of winning 100 ODI wins as a captain.

Dhoni and his team reached this landmark by handsomely defeating Bangladesh by a huge margin of 109 runs at Melbourne Cricket Ground in the cricket World Cup quarterfinals on Thursday.

Dhoni has achieved the incredible record in just 178 matches. With this distinguished record Dhoni now rubs shoulders with the legendary Austrian captains Ricky Ponting and Allan Border, the only two captains to have achieved this marvelous feat. Ponting has won 165 wins out of the 230 ODIs and Border has won 107 wins from 178 ODIs. Unfortunately South Africa captain Hansie Cronje lost this place of pride as he could win just 99 ODIs for his side.

Arguably one of the best captains in the history of not just Indian cricket, but also world cricket, Dhoni now boosts to be the only captain in India to have won all three ICC tournaments - World T20 (2007), World Cup (2011) and Champions Trophy (2013). And that’s not has M.S. Dhoni has also registered the highest number of knockout wins (9) in ICC tournaments. He has gone past Ricky Ponting’s 8 wins.

Coming from a humble background the Jharkhand lad has taken Indian cricket to dizzy heights of popularity. Ever since he took captaincy from Rahul Dravid in 2007, Dhoni has attained great heights in international cricket, even taking India to the top of Test rankings.

Speaking about the achievement Dhoni as usual did not seem excited but was grounded and credited the achievement to the team. He said, “A lot of credit needs to go to the boys and the support staff. The good thing is not many players form in our side are in the top run-scorers list, but the batting has performed well."

Though Dhoni's win percentage is not comparable with that of Ricky Ponting, Border, Steve Waugh, Graeme Smith yet cricket expert’s claim Dhoni has achieved the milestone with a bowling attack that was not as competent as the quality of bowlers the above mentioned captains were fortunate to have.

In nutshell M.S. Dhoni is going great guns and one hope he continues the winning stride and wins the 2015 World Cup in style as he did fours back!
