Yash Raj film to make awareness film on Dengue

Dengue the deadly disease has yet again griped India in a big way. In urbane Maharashtra, according to Municipal Corporation, there are 2,600 patients of dengue while in rural areas, 2,700 patients have been detected with dengue. Alarmed by the threat of dengue, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities to rope in celebrities to assist the administration in awareness programme.

In response to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis call filmmaker Aditya Chopra has come forward and contacted the BMC expressing his desire to make an awareness film. It may be noted Aditya Chopra’s father, eminent filmmaker Yash Chopra expired in 2012 due to dengue hence Adi is quite serious and has sought statistical data about the disease from BMC.

Confirming Aditya Chopra’s longing to make the film, civic chief Sitaram Kunte told a local daily that Adi had contacted him through a close associate and solicited technical information about the disease.

Sitaram Kunte however made it clear that BMC would be providing only essential information about the disease but the movie would be produced and directed under the Yash Raj films banner.

Readers may recall that many film celebrities in the past have become victim of dengue virus like famous actor Rishi Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Lisa Haydon, Nikhil Dwivedi (of MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES fame) , actor Imran Khan’s wife Avantika Malik, and eminent Bengali actor- filmmaker Aparna Sen and mother Bollywood actress Konkona Sen.

Maharashtra government has also decided to take help of the social media to create awareness about the dengue epidemic, which has claimed 26 lives in the state so far.

Karan Johar joins the list of menacing villains of Bollywood!

The menacing ‘First look’ of eminent filmmaker turned actor Karan Johar as underworld don Kaizad Khambatta in Anurag Kashyap BOMBAY VELVET has taken the nation by storm.

Kudos to director Anurag Kashyap, who after giving an arresting looks for its lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the movie, has yet again stunned the viewers by giving an equaling captivating look to Karan Johar!

What makes Karan Johar’s appearance appealing is that Anurag Kashyap has given a complete alteration to the usually witty and charming looking Karan Johar into a somber, middle aged don, sporting a moustache!

Full marks to KJo’s mannerisms in the first look as he looks scary to say the least and it seems he is set to register his mark as one of the most iconic Bollywood villains!

Readers may be aware that Karan Johar made his first appearance as an actor in Adiya Chopra’s DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE (1995) in which he was actually an assistant director but did a brief cameo as the junior actor suppose to do the role failed to turn up at the right time of shooting. Hence Karan did the role as a compulsion. Since then he has done many small cameo appearances playing himself in films like OM SHANTI OM (2007), FASHION (2008), and LUCK BY CHANCE (2009). However BOMBAY VELVET is his First full fletched performance about which Anurag Kashyap is quite excited.

"I throughly enjoyed working with Karan Johar and he will surprise you all when you will see him in the film. A director actually is a very good actor and only a director can understand that," Anurag quipped.
