BACK TO COLLEGE!

With a number of movies coming out targeting the youth, the college setup is inevitable. We see college background songs in almost many movies. The college setup not only adds in ‘filling’ in the detail of the ‘age’ factor - teens that is, but also brings out the vibrancy in terms of the atmosphere that any youth is always supposed to be a part of.

Recently, ‘All is well’ did its rounds of spreading the positive emotions; shot in a college backdrop, we see actors Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth doing a fun number targeting the college audience ofcourse. In terms of romance, we all know college is one place where people have fallen in love and one such beautiful song to validate this is ofcourse ‘Munbe vaa’ from Sillunu oru Kaadhal, where we witness a strong ‘wooing’ taking place, as Surya tries to attract Bhoomika. Another lovely melody is ‘Azhaipaaya Azhaipaaya’ from the movie Kaadhalil sodhapuvadhu eppadi where we see Siddharth and Amala doing their bit of romance in a college backdrop.

The movie ‘Neethane en ponvasantham’ opens with a college background song that is ‘Pudikale maamu’, which is definitely a fun song to watch, thanks to the humorous visuals that Gautham Menon has made an effort to capture. ‘Kaloorisaalai’ from the movie Kadhal Desam is another fun number to be added to this list alongside songs like ‘Sight adipom, dham adipom’ from the movie AprilMaadhathil.

A wonderful song is ‘Suttham enbadhu namakku’ which not only educates every citizen but is also a song that stands as a testimony to depict the power of youth, from the movie Nammavar. Another fun listen, a must add to this list is ofcourse ‘Askaava’ from the movie Enaku 20 Unakku 18 that describes the college scenario pretty well too.

It may be note that SalmanKhan and Barjatyas are uniting after a gap of 15 years after the mega success of their duo’s last hit HUM SAATH SAATH HAIN. Their other hit movies include MAINE PYAR KIYA and HUM AAPKE HAIN KAUN.

The surprise element of the movie is that the movie has music by Himesh Reshammiya, who is riding high thanks to rave reviews to his recent hit movie THE XPOSÉ.

The choice of Himesh Reshammiya as music director may be odd as Rajshri production is known for the typical Indian traditional music while Himesh Reshammiya is famed for his mastery in western score. However according to insiders Himesh Reshammiya’s name has been recommended by Salman Khan, who has played a pivotal role in Himesh’s career - be it the in the beginning of his career with movies like HELLO BROTHER, TERE NAAM, MAINE. Further since BODYGUARD (2011) became a blockbuster, Salman Khan is recommending Himesh Reshammiya’s name all over, like in his forthcoming movies AZAAD, KICK etc.

The movie has lyrics by upcoming lyricist Irshad Kamil who has the reputation of giving super hit lyrics in hit movies like AASHIQUI 2, JAB WE MET, and RAANJHANAA etc.

The other major draw of the movie is that Salman Khan will be seen essaying a double role. The other cast includes Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Deepak Dobriyal.

The movie is slated for a Diwali release in 2015

Another unknown fact that the readers may be stun to know is that this is the First film in which young Hrithik Roshan made his debut at the age of six playing junior Rakesh Roshan. Thus the association of Rajesh Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan began with AAP KE DEEWANE!

AAPKE DEEWANE was a mediocre at the box –office. Hence to be on a safer side Rakesh Roshan remade Telugu film SUBHODAYAM in Hindi as KAAMCHOR. The movie was directed by K. Viswanath, who directed the original. The movie was super hit and so were the songs by Rajesh Roshan. Who can forget the timeless songs like Tujh Sang Prit Lagaai Sajanaa, Tum SeBadhkar Duniya Mein and Jogi Ho JogiBhag Mein Mere Likha Hai etc.

Further the two have given many more hits together like KHUDGARZ, KHOON BHARI MAANG, KISHEN KANHAIYA, KARAN ARJUN, KAHO NAA... PYAAR HAI, KOI MIL GAYA, and the KRRISH series.

Speaking about Rakesh Roshan, Rajesh Roshan in an interview said, “Dada (Rakesh Roshan) is a strict task master and has a good understanding of music. Until he is contended with the tune he keeps cancelling and we two indulge in lot of arguments.” He adds, “The best part of Dada is that he has no reservations in disapproving a tune. If he is not satisfied, however I try to convince, he is adamant. Probably this is the reason, even if our movies like Koyla, Kite, Khel etc. failed at the box office but the music has also be a winner.”

In a career spanning over four decades Rajesh Roshan has kept the tradition of melody alive in Bollywood music. He has the prestige of winning two Filmfare Music awards for  JULIE and  KAHONAA...
