Ranbir Kapoor To Live Sanjay Dutt On Silver Screen!

After biopics on legends in sports like BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG, MARY KOM, PAAN SINGH TOMAR, Bollywood is now obsessed with biopics on film stars.

After the smashing success of DIRTY PICTURE portraying the biopic of Silk Smitha, the sex siren of South Cinema, Bollywood is making multiple movies on Bollywood legends like Anurag Basu’s biopic on renowned singer come actor KIshore Kumar to be played by Ranbir Kapoor and a movie on wrestler turned actor Dara Singh to be played by Akshay Kumar and another on Carnatic musician, MS Subbulakshmi to be played by Vidya Balan.

However the biopic that has taken the nation by storm is on actor Sanjay Dutt! The movie is to be directed by none other than Aamir Khan’s latest film P.K. director and the famous Munnabhai Series filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani.

The movie has garnered much publicity because Ranbir Kapoor, the heartthrob of the younger generation has given his consent to live Sanjay Dutt on silver screen! Confirming his approval for the movie Ranbir Kapoor in an interview candidly confessed, “Portraying Sanju sir on screen is a big task. And it comes with a huge responsibility. He's had a very entertaining, engaging, and a roller-coaster kind of a life.”

Though the movie is being produced Sanjay's wife Maanyata however readers would surprised to know the brainchild behind the biopic is neither Maanyata, Rajkumar Hirani or Sanjay Dutt but the seeds for the plot have been germinated by Sanjay Dutt’s sister Priya Dutt, who since years had been cajoling his father, veteran actor Sunil Dutt to pen his autobiography but he never paid heed. Later she tried to convince her brother Sanjay to write his autobiography but he too did not lent much interest.

Priya says, “The idea for the biopic has been germinated from my insistence. Nevertheless, now I feel more than an autobiography, a biopic on Sanjay Dutt will be more striking because Sanju Baba’s life has several ups and downs packed with emotions and drama."

Raju Hirani, the film’s director shares a warm relation with Sanjay Dutt. He is the only person, who has been in constant touch with Sanjay Dutt, who is jail. Both have been in constant communication through hand written letters. On a regular basis Sanjay Dutt has been writing letters to Raju. Both the actor - director have worked with each other on Munnabahi Series and Sanju Baba is also an integral part of PK.

Hence Raju has closely observed Sanjay Dutt and has penned the script of the biopic. He said, “ I am very happy as the story has turned out brilliantly and with Ranbir Kapoor giving his nod, people can expect a fabulous bonanza.”
