SS Rajamouli’s BAAHUBALI inspires India’s premier Vellore Institute of Technology!

It may come as a stunner that a film could inspire a premium technical institute as prestigious as Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering (VITE) but it is true that SS Rajamouli’s BAAHUBALI has done the impossible.

According to reports a professor from VITE has been so impressed by the extravagant sets of SS Rajamouli’s BAAHUBALI that he dared to ask a question related to the sets in the movie for the civil engineering students in the internal examination of the premium institute.

Assistant professor Mahendra Gattu, who is known for asking question related to day-to-day life and application based instead of the dull text book based questions informed, “I believe in teaching my students what is practical and application based. Hence instead of changing numerical values of the text books problems I prefer to make fun based and interesting questions that the students grasp and easily interrelate.”

He added, “The movie BAAHUBALI has been appreciated by all and is a real treat both in entertainment values and its spectacular sets deigns. Hence I decided to quiz my students if they were the civil engineers and asked to design a similar set like that of BAAHUBALI than how would have they designed the set that had maximum structural stability and also guaranteed the safety of the actors.”

“The question paper provided diagrams that depicted a rough sketch of the movie set explaining from where the hero would jump during the different frames. Students had to use their skills and answer,” quipped.

It may be noted like BAAHUBALI, several movies have been used as study material in education like Zoya Akhtar's ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, which was shot in Spain, has been included as a case study for a course in marketing management there.

The early 70’s cult classic GARAM HAWA directed by M. S. Sathyu is taught as syllabus for Bachelor of Mass Media (B.M.M.) students in Mumbai University.

Besides at the University of Lowa in USA; a graduate course is conducted that studies popular Indian cinema that includes films LIKE AWARA, MOTHER INDIA, DEEWAAR, DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE etc.

Trade pundits predict Anushka Shetty’s RUDHRAMADEVI will have an edge over Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s JAZBAA!

For the first time after many years two women centric films viz. JAZBAA and RUDHRAMADEVI featuring Indian Cinema’s two most popular actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s and Anushka Shetty are set to clash with each other at the box office this Friday on October 9, 2015.

While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s JAZBAA is eagerly awaited because it is her comeback film after five years on the other hand Anushka Shetty’s RUDHRAMADEVI is most awaited because it regarded as India's First Stereoscopic 3D historic film that has been into making for over two years hence there is huge curiosity among audience to watch.

Though RUDHRAMADEVI is made in Telugu and Tamil but it has been dubbed in Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi thus in nutshell the movie has a pan India appeal and this is very reason why the movie is looked upon as a potential threat to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s JAZBAA!

Speaking about JAZBAA, the film critics and film celebrities who have seen the film have given their thumps up for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s outstanding performance. Besides the movie is being applauded for its novel script where in a lawyer (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) undergoes umpteen tribulation and ordeal to save her daughter kidnapped by the antagonist.

What makes the script intriguing is that the kidnappers compel Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to defend the offender in the court in exchange of daughter’s liberty. Technically the movie is slick and is being termed as an edge of the seat thriller.

On the other hand RUDHRAMADEVI too is much-admired for its rich production values and stunning VFX special effects which are regarded as at par with Hollywood standards.

Readers would be surprised to know that BAAHUBALI director SS Rajamouli has seen the movie twice (Both in 3-D and 2-D) and was left perplexed by the film’s appealing visual effects.

Praising RUDHRAMADEVI film director, Gunasekhar, in a series of tweets SS Rajamouli tweeted “Gunasekhar U r such a good director, love u sir. RUDRAMADEVI is quite impressive and has a regal look. The movie is mindboggling in 3- D!”

In fact SS Rajamouli has been so overwhelmed by the movie that after the Telangana government declared RUDHRAMADEVI tax free, SS Rajamouli has made an appeal to the Andhra Pradesh government to also make it tax free.

Whatever the trade pundits predict and film celebrities’ praise is not final because what matters is the ultimate verdict of the audience and it is the box –office that decides the fate of a film…

We pray both the films do good business so that more and more filmmakers are encouraged to make women centric films in future.
