It is difficult to guess what is common between 72 year actor Amitabh Bachchan and 29 year actor Ranveer Singh. Well besides being famous celebrities both dedicate their success to their respective idols.
While Amitabh Bachchan goes gaga over his idol thespian Dilip Kumar likewise Ranveer Singh credits his success in Bollywood to Amitabh Bachchan.
In a recent media conclave Ranveer Singh going down memory lane recalled, “Since childhood I have been idolizing Amitabh Bachchan sir and my dadi (grandmother) encouraged me to become a hero like Mr. Bachchan.”
Reminiscing an anecdote form his earlier life he said, “I remember when I was a kid I would love to dance and entertain. My first performance was a dance on the super hit song 'Juma Chumma de de ….’ from Amitabh Bachchan's hit film HUM. I still remember the thunderous appreciation of claps and whistle.”
He added, “Since I believed without a godfather nobody can become hero in Bollywood hence I decided to enter Bollywood as a writer. Therefore I went to America to pursue Creative Writing in Cinema. However to my surprise in one of the class I was asked to enact a performance.”
“Yet again it was my idol Mr. Bachchan who came to my rescue. I enacted the renowned sentimental scene of 'Mere paas maa hai….', from his film DEEWAAR. Though nobody understood the language yet everybody gave me a tremendous applause. Thus giving me confidence that acting was my passion and I should pursue acting.”
Praising Amiatbh Bachchan Ranveer said, “Mr. Bachchan is an icon, a living legend in the truest sense. In coming years, Bollywood will be defined as BB and AB - Before Bachchan and After Bachchan!”
Interestingly while Ranveer Singh claims that coming generation will be defined as ‘Before Bachchan and After Bachchan’ but the star of Millennium contradicts.
Bachchan praising his idol Dilip Kumar says, “Dilip Sahab has been an inspiration not just for me but I am certain to thousands of those that have ever dreamt of facing a camera for the art form called cinema. His presence his aura and his dedication to film shall be documented as ‘Before Dilip Kumar and After Dilip Kumar’.
