KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON collections to cross Rs 50 crore!! So is Kapil Sharma the new Superstar of Bollywood?

With standup comedian Kapil Sharma's debut film KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON set to cross the elusive Rs 50 crore mark at the worldwide box office, it looks evident Kapil Sharma is here to stay!

According to traded reports KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON made on a shoe string budget has broken all office records. The movie has earned Rs 37.12 crore from Indian markets, while from the overseas box office it has minted Rs 7.92 crore, thus taking its worldwide total to Rs 45.04 crore.

Trade pundits predict the movie may cross the Rs 50 crore mark as it is still doing brisk business at the box-office.

.
Kapil Sharma who is already a rage thanks to his hugely popular TV show COMEDY NIGHTS WITH KAPIL is himself surprised at the superlative success of his film. He has thanked his fans for the movie’s overwhelming response.

After the success of the film, speculations are being made that will Kapil Sharma prove the dark horse and race ahead of his contemporary stars like Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor!

The fact is even Salman Khan’s much publicized film HERO introducing Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty could manage to garner only Rs 6.85 crore on first Friday (11 September). While Kapil Sharma’s KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON, despite no star attraction and negligible publicity minted Rs 8 crore on its first Friday which is a record opening for any film starring a debutante actor!!!

The bumper opening thus proves it was the star appeal of Kapil Sharma that did the trick. So is Kapil Sharma the new Superstar?

Well it may be too early to comment but trade pundits reveal that among the debutant actors Kapli Sharma is only actor who has the inimitable X factor that can work in his favor!

Why Vijay’s PULI may conquer over Akshay Kumar’s SINGH IS BLIING

With Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar’s SINGH IS BLIING and South Superstar Vijay’s PULI sets to clash on October 1 speculations are high which movie will take the cake.

Though the trade analyst believe that since both the films are having the advantage of a long weekend vacation hence both may do good business but on a closer examination it appears Vijay’s PULI has an edge over Akshay Kumar’s SINGH IS BLIING due to many reasons.

First and foremost after the mega success of BAAHUBALI - THE BEGINNING, the demand for fantasy-adventure has increased. Since PULI is being publicized as the most expensive fantasy-adventure movie ever made in India there is definitely a fanatical craze to watch the movie.

As the movie is dubbed in Hindi and being released simultaneously hence it has the advantage of clicking in the North India too and can give a tough fight to Akshay Kumar’s SINGH IS BLIING as BAAHUBALI - THE BEGINNING gave a tough fight to Salman Khan’s BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN!

Secondly the movie’s trailer has generated a huge buzz on social media thanks to its appealing cinematography and special effects displaying it’s amazing costumes, weird castles, flying multi coloured angry bird, ogres, one eyed monsters, a giant turtle and much more enticing film buffs to watch the movie.

And last but not the least Superstar Vijay is doing a fantasy adventure for the first time and yesteryear top star Sridevi is making her comeback in Tamil cinema after over 30 years!

Besides PULI’s outstanding background score with the mystic drum rolls around Sridevi who plays a witch in the film has already became a rage.

In contrast Akshay Kumar’s SINGH IS BLIING has nothing new to offer. It has the same background of Punjabi culture and the typical song and comedy, which the audience has seen a millions of times.

Thus in nutshell PULI is likely to draw unprecedented rush at the box office and will surely win the race…

Nevertheless SINGH IS BLIING too might not be a disappointment either because, in case of over flow of crowds at PULI, the surplus may drift to SINGH IS BLIING!

After Shatrughan Sinha, Bollywood action star Akshay Kumar meets Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal!

It seems Bollywood has found a solace to their woes in the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Readers may remember a few weeks ago actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, had met the Chief Minister and proposed to set up a Film City and a FTII kind film institute in New Delhi to solve the film shooing hassles of Mumbai and help the agitating students of FTII, who are being harassed by the controversial appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as chairman of the premier institute.

After the meeting Sinha told media, “I hope to see a film city in Delhi soon. If the project is implemented in Delhi, it will also boost tourism, on the lines of the Hyderabad film city. It will also be a huge employment generator.”

Recently action star Khiladi Kumar aka Akshay Kumar too visited New Delhi in connection to the promotion of his latest film SINGH IS BLIING.

Meanwhile he also attended a funds raising event to help draught-hit farmers and donated Rs 90 lakh for the welfare of the drought affected farmers of the Marathwada region who are committing suicides due to scarcity of water.

After the event Akshay Kumar took out time and met Arvind Kejriwal to seek a solution the grave issue of farmer’s suicide.

According to reports during the 30 minutes meeting with the Delhi CM Akshay Kumar spoke generally to problems related to the farming sector, growing farmers’ suicides and ways to help farmers get out of the distress situation.

Is Vijay starrer PULI financed by the outlaw? Will the movie’s release be affected??

It is a well known fact that the Indian film industry is backed by usurious funds that are usually financed by the outlaw due to lack of corporate backing in India. However the Income Tax department keeps a ‘Hawk Eye’ on such film producers and try to curb the thriving of outlaw finance in the film industry.

Despite the law, it is a tragedy that film producers, particularly the Tamil film producers, continue to rely on illegitimate finance.

The latest producers who have become target of the IT department for employing usurious funds for film production are Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar, who are suspected by the IT department to have used illegitimate investments for producing their Magnum Opus Tamil movie PULI, touted as the most expensive of movie of Indian Cinema!

Alarmed at the irregularities in the funds of the movie the IT department on Wednesday morning conducted raids not only the film producers Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar but also raided popular South Superstar’s Vijay’s house, office and other properties. It may be noted Vijay is the hero of PULI that also stars Sridevi.

Reports claim houses of other actors like Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nayantara were raided simultaneously.

When contacted an income tax official, on condition of anonymity confirmed that the raids were conducted following startling revelations in the accounting of the movie PULI.

“Yes it is true that the IT department has conducted raids at as many as 32 places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. We have detected that a lot of investments in movie Puli are not explained," he confided.

The movie PULI is slated to be released on Thursday October 1, hope the raids do not pose problem to the release of the movie as movie buffs are going hysterical to watch the film!

When Lata Mangeshkar had mistaken Kishore Kumar as roadside ruffian!

Naam gum jaayegaa, cheharaa ye badal jaayegaa

Meree aawaaj hee pahachaan hai, gar yaad rahe…..

Apt words to define Melody Queen and Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar because even though coming generation may forget the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s name and her identity but one thing that will live eternal is her melodious voice. It will continue to inspire and enchant music lovers for generations to come. September 28 marks the 86 birthday of Lata Mangeshkar, popularly known as the Nightingale of India.

Raaga.com wishes her birthday greetings and informs readers an interesting anecdote about how she had mistaken popular singer Kishore Kumar as roadside ruffian during her first meeting in Mumbai. Read on…

The first meeting of Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar is an interesting tale. Kishore Kumar in an interview informed that when he was travelling in a local train in the mid 40’s he saw a young and simple girl sitting near window seat. When she looked at him, Kishore Kumar gave her warm smile but the girl gave a stern look. Kishore Kumar got nervous. When Dadar station came, Kishore Kumar got down. Incidentally the girl also got down at Dadar station.

Outside the station the girl hired a horse cart and moved to her destination. Kishore Kumar too hired another horse cart and coincidently moved in the same direction, literally following her horse cart.

The situation became tense when Kishore Kumar got down at the same place where the girl had stopped her horse cart. Hence the girl lost her nerve and in rage scolding at Kishore Kumar she said, “You scoundrel, why are you chasing me like a roadside Romeo!”

Kishore Kumar was left astounded but before he could reply the girl hurriedly moved into the studio and complaint music director Khemchand Prakash about a roadside ruffian chasing her.

Khemchand Prakash smiled and clarified her misconception and introduced Kishore Kumar to her! They had a big laugh and later gave many hits together.

If not BAHUBALI, Kannada film CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 selected for Oscar 2016!!

Director SS Rajamouli's magnum opus BAHUBALI may have missed the chance in the 'Best Foreign language film' category in the 2016 Oscars as the Film Federation of India (FFI) selection committee gave their thumps up for Chaitanya Tamhane’s Marathi film COURT.

However the South film industry, particularly Kannada film industry has reason to feel proud as after years of struggle Kannada film CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 has been selected in the Oscar 2016 race!

According to reports the CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 staring Esha Deol has been selected as a lateral entry for the Academy Awards thus becoming the First Kannada film to have an Oscar entry!

Directed by 19 year old film maverick Kishan Shrikanth, who has the distinction of having registered his name in the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records for being the 'youngest director’ when he directed the original CARE OF FOOTPATH in 2006 at the age of mere 10 years!

What may be stunning to readers is that at the age of 10 when Kishan Shrikanth directed CARE OF FOOTPATH, the movie left the film critics dumbfounded not because it was made by a child prodigy but the content and the quality of the film was at par with any professional filmmakers.

In fact the movie was so remarkable that it went on to win the prestigious National Film Award for Best Children's Film.

CARE OF FOOTPATH 2 is set to have its premiere at LA, USA in October in grand style with pomp and spectacle akin to a Hollywood film. The movie will be released in India in November. It will be released in Hindi as KILL THEM YOUNG.

It may be noted The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce had proposed BAHUBALI as official entry in Oscar and were expecting BAHUBALI to break the ice at the Oscars but destiny had something else in store.

Hope what BAHUBALI could not do, will be done by the young genius filmmaker’s Kishan Shrikanth’s CARE OF FOOTPATH 2!

With two Indian films at the Oscar, India has a chance of breaking the jinx but will the Oscar jury take note or like each year give a blind eye to our films? Readers comment!

Wanna Know eminent author R.K. Narayan was annoyed with Dev Anand’s movie GUIDE?

Maein Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya;

Har Fikar Ko Dhuen Mein Udata Chala Gaya …

Akin to the lyrics of this song from his home production HUM DONO, Evergreen actor and czar of romance Dev Anand lived life on his terms shrugging all apprehensions and lived life King-size.

September 26, marks his 92nd birth anniversary. On this occasion Raaga.Com pays our humble homage to the legend and recalls how he was obsessed about his movie GUIDE and how he would get passionate when someone asked him about the movie. Read on….

March 22, 1994 is a data that has registered in my memory for ever as it was on this fortunate day I happened to interview the flamboyant and debonair actor Dev Anand.

When I entered his office room I found Dev Sahib busy writing and completely engrossed. However when he saw me he greeted me with his million dollar smile and said, “Sorry I am in a rush, nevertheless I have reserved 10 minutes for the interview.”

Listening this I fell dumb folded as I felt what could I ask in such a less time? Thinking hard I decided to quiz him about his movie GUIDE, as I was aware he had a soft corner for the film. Hence I asked, “Your movie GUIDE was an offbeat movie. How did you dare to make a movie on a subject like adultery, which was taboo in the 60’s?”

The question perplexed him and Dev sahib went down memory lane narrating the many untold facts of the movie. He enlightened me with the rare fact that R K Narayan, the famous south Indian author known for his best seller Malgudi Days, on whose novel ‘The Guide’ the movie was adapted was a bit appalled by the movie.

Dev Anand informed, “In fact Narayan even vented his wrath against my film in an article he wrote for Life magazine. However R K Narayan's protests did not stop the audiences from embracing my film and it run for many months.”

Dev Anand also informed that GUIDE was the first international collaboration of Indian cinema. The premiere of the movie was held in New York, where Dev Anand meet David Selznick, who wanted to cast him for a movie to be shot in Kashmir. He also said, “GUIDE was also India’s official entry for Oscar.”

The interview that was supposed to be of just ten minutes went up to one and half hour!!!

Will Sridevi give a tough fight to Illayathalapathy Vijay in the film PULI!

Sridevi ruled the Southern film industry in the 70′s and the early 80′s and spelled her charm upon both film buffs and her co-stars the legendary actors like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth

However after 30 years when she returns to Tamil Cinema with Chimbu Deven's fantasy films PULI opposite the younger generation Superstar Vijay there are speculation will she be able to sustain the same magical spell that she did in the 70’s and 80’s.

Evaluating from the ‘First Look’ of the movie’s promos Sridevi seems to have won half the battle because she looks stunning beautiful in the spectacular royal attires. In addition her pompous attitude and wide eyes sum up for a bewitching performance in store for the audience.

It seems the role of the antagonist Queen Soumya Devi that she plays in the film has been ideally crafted for her and it looks as if she would give a tough fight to the Illayathalapathy Vijay

The film’s director Chimbu Deven, who has to his credits movies like ARAI ENN 305-IL KADAVUL and ORU KANNIYUM MOONU KALAVAANIKALUM both fantasy comedies has affirmed that unquestionably, Sridevi is the major attraction of the film!

Sridevi too is quite excited by her role and is eagerly anticipating the movie’s release. Speaking about her co-star Vijay she said, “Vijay is a superstar but I was bowled over by his humility and earthy nature. He is calm and cool and throws no star tantrums as is usually seen when actors becoming stars after one or two films.”

She added, “It was real pleasure working with him. Vijay is truly a gifted actor and the audience will have a double treat as he plays a dual role in the film.”

One wonders will Sridevi prove to the dark horse like Gabbar Singh in SHOLAY, who despite an assembly of top superstars went away winning all the laurels! Or will Illayathalapathy Vijay give a befitting reply? What say readers????

Salman Khan fetches Rs 1, 10,000 and Shah Rukh just Rs 10,000/- ?

Two years back Salman Khan fetched Rs 80,000/- but with growing inflation this year his price has boosted to Rs 1 lakh!! Do not get confused we are not talking of actor Salman Khan, rather we are speaking about the goats on sale for Eid-ul-azha (Bakra Eid).

In Uttar Pradesh, each year on the eve of Bakri Eid the goat seller have a trend to lure buyers by naming their goats on popular film stars.

This year in Lucknow the goat that is priced at a whopping price of Rs 1, 10,000 is named Salman Khan. The owner of the goat proudly says, “This is my healthiest two-year-old goat and weighs 1 quintal. It is one of the strongest goats in the Bakra market. Hence I have named it Salman Khan and fixed its price at Rs 1,10,000!”

On being quizzed why the price of Salman Khan named goat is so high, the owner said, "I reared this goat for almost a year like my own child. I used to feed him with two litres of milk with two eggs every day. He is very fond of 'jalebis' also. I fed him dry fruits more than often. Hence the goat is worthy of its price.”

Interestingly while Salman Khan named goad earned Rs 1, 10,000, a goat named Shah Rukh fetched just Rs 10, 000!

Interestingly this year besides film star, sports stars too found their place in this goat market. A goat named ‘Sania’, after tennis ace 'Sania Mirza', won a handsome price!!

Raaga.Com wishes all our Muslim readers Happy Eid-Ul-Azha!

Even after 40 years Amitabh Bachchan is the undisputed ‘SHAHENSHAH’ of Bollywood!

Rishtey mein to hum tumhare baap hote hai ... naam hai Shahenshah …!

This iconic dialogue from the super hit film SHAHENSHAH suits to a perfect ‘T’ to define the incredible stardom of Amitabh Bachchan, because he is truly a ‘Baap’ of all actors and is the arguably the undisputed SHAHENSHAH of Bollywood

What is amazing about the charisma of Mr. Bachchan is that ever since he displaced the original Superstar of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna in the mid 70’s since then he has remained at the peak and continues to command stardom.

Remember he also overpowered top actors like thespian Dilip Kumar, Thalaiva Rajinikanth and Kamal Hasaan when he was unanimously voted as ‘Star of Millennium’!

The height of his popularity is so passionate that even after over 40 years in Bollywood , when many actors of his era have retired and many ‘bid adieu’ from this world, Mr. Bachchan holds the same craze and obsession among his fans that he held in his early days of stardom.

Amazingly when the Khan Trio is supposed to be ruling tinsel town, a recent survey conducted by a leading national daily has revealed that it is not the Khan Trio that is regarded as the biggest icon of the youth but instead it is the ‘old horse’ Amiatbh Bachchan, who is still the ‘beloved’ of the youth and the ultimate SHAHENSHAH of Bollywood!

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan outscored the Khan trio by winning the Top position in the renowned Youth Survey 2015 list of Hindustan Times Newspaper.

According to reports Amitabh Bachchan received 23.3% votes almost 5% more than the current heartthrob of Bollywood Shah Rukh, who stood second in the list with 18.6% votes.

Interestingly PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO star Salman Khan lost the second position by a little margin of mere 0.6% as he came third with 18%.

However what is surprising is that Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, was left far behind with just 10.4% at fourth position. The fifth position was occupied by Ranbir Kapoor with 6.1%.

The others included in the Top 10 youth icon list were Vidya Balan (5.1%); Deepika Padukone (4.8%) ; Irrfan Khan (3.7%) ; AR Rehman (2.8%) and Katrina Kaif (2.5%)

BAAHUBALI and BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN lose battle for Oscar; Marathi film COURT selected amidst ‘rift’ in jury members!!

Sidelining commercial successfully films like BAAHUBALI, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, PK, MARY KOM and artistically brilliant art films like MASAAN, HAIDER, KAAKA MUTTAI, AKUTTRAM KADITHAL etc. the Film Federation of India (FFI) jury gave its thumps up to Chaitanya Tamhane's debut Marathi movie COURT, as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 88th Academy Awards.

Though the decision to select the Marathi film COURT is cited as a unanimous decision by the jury but eminent filmmaker Rahul Rawail, who was one of the jury in the panel has dropped a bomb shell by quitting from the post citing differences with Chairperson Amol Palekar.

It seems Rahul Rawail is unhappy with decision of selecting the Marathi film COURT as in a tweet he has accused Amol Palekar’s behavior as obnoxious and quoted the reason for resigning from the Film Federation of India (FFI) jury.

It may be noted eminent filmmaker Rahul Rawail is a celebrated filmmaker and has to his credits hit films like LOVE STORY, BETAAB, ARJUN etc.

Though Amol Palekar has not responded to Rahul Rawail’s allegation but Supran Sen, secretary general of Film Federation of India (FFI), which selects the Oscar entry, termed Rawail’s claims ‘ridiculous’. In a press release she said, “The film COURT was a unanimous decision. You can manipulate one or two people not all the members of the jury. I think they had a personal problem and it does not have to do with COURT. Rahul Rawail’s statement is ridiculous.”

The selection of Marathi film COURT is bound to raise eye brows because Amol Palekar, the Chairman of Film Federation of India (FFI), being a Maharashtrian, was sure to support the film from his state.

What is painful is that it is this very attitude of us Indians to favor our states that has resulted in India never being able to win an Oscar despite having quality filmmakers. Instead of focusing on the quality of a film, irrespective of its language and state, the jury of Film Federation of India (FFI) has always been interested in favoritism.

Until we overcome this drawback, we can never think of winning an Oscar!!!

Can Kollywood Superstar Vijay’s PULI outscore Bollywood’s Mega Star Akshay Kumar SINGH IS BLIING?

With Bollywood’s top notch producer Pahlaj Nihalani purchasing the pan-India rights for the Hindi dubbed version of Tamil superstar Vijay’s fantasy adventure drama PULI there are speculations that the Hindi dubbed version may give a tough fight to Akshay Kumar’s comedy film SINGH IS BLIING when the two film release this week simultaneously.

Pahlaj Nihalani is an experienced film producer and knows the pulse of the audience. A picture of his intellect can be gauged from the string of super hits Bollywood blockbusters that he has produced over the years like AANKHEN, SHOLA AUR SHABNAM, AAG HI AAG, ANDAZ etc.

Confident of PULI’s success Pahlaj Nihalani says, “I am quite convinced about the success of PULI because the film is targeted at both the kids and grownups. Secondly after the spectacular success of BAHUBALI, there is a huge hunger among audience for fantasy adventure films.”

Pahlaj Nihalani’s son Chinni Nihalani informed, “We would be releasing the film in nearly 2,000 screens. All the versions of the film will have a simultaneous release on October 1.”

Asked about the competition of the film with Akshay Kumar’s comedy film SINGH IS BLIING he said, “I don’t think PULI will have a threat from Akshay’s movie because both the movies are on diverse subjects. In addition both the movies enjoy the advantage of a long weekend holiday hence both the films must to good business.”

Coming to the star appeal of South superstar Vijay and Bollywood Action King Akshay Kumar, it is obvious that Vijay will have a spell bounding draw in Southern states and foreign countries where he has a huge fan following but will he make an impact in Northern India is a big question.

However thanks to the presence of Sridevi, the movie is sure to make a fantastic opening in Northern states too.

As regards Akshay Kumar he is sure to pull in audience as the movie is sequel to his early hit SINGH IS KING. Hence the brand value will attract the film buffs but on the negative side the movies trailer looks like a series of jokes patched together and also gives you a massive SINGH IS KING hangover.

So readers who do you think will have the big draw? Kollywood Superstar Vijay’s PULI or Bollywood’s Mega Star Akshay Kumar’s SINGH IS KING???

Lessons in endorsements that Bollywood actors needs to learn from South film Stars!

The recent news about a F.I.R. being launched against Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor and ace film actor-director Farhan Akhtar for promoting a portal that allegedly is involved in ‘duping’ customers has once again opened the Pandora’s Box that should film celebrities endorsing products must be held liable for misleading advertisements?

According to K V Thomas, Chairman of Central Consumer Protection Council (CCPC) a misleading commercial by a leading film celebrity on TV; even for a single day helps the advertisers to deceive millions of gullible consumers, who are tempted to buy the product solely trusting their favorite celebrity endorsing the product.

Mr. K V Thomas, said, “Daily we see top stars like Shahrukh Khan or Salman Khan or some other Hindi film star endorsing consumer items and they get huge payment for endorsement. Hence CCPC have decided that even the celebrities must pay compensation in case there is a complaint.”

While on one hand we observe Bollywood stars endorsing advertisements despite cases against them like few months back, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta were slapped with notices by the Tamil Nadu consumer forum for promoting Maggi noodles on "false representations" about quality and safety.

On the other, if we look down South film Industry we observe that many popular film stars have made it a rule not to endorse any product knowing very well that their word is taken as a ‘word of God’ by their fans. Hence in case the product proves bogus than their dignity and decorum is at stake.

South Cinema’s greatest superstars viz. Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have thus stayed away from endorsements. Nevertheless the two have always come forward for advertisements that promote social cause.

Another big name in South Cinema Thala Ajith too has made it a practice not to endorse any product that is harmful to health and has hence turned down offers from Coke and other beverages, despite offers of huge remunerations.

However recently the media is hype about film star Kamal Haasan breaking his 50 year long vow of not endorsing products and will be doing a commercial for Pothys, regarded as a leading chain of textile and jewellery showrooms in Tamil Nadu.

When contracted sources close to Kamal Haasan revealed, “The endorsement should not be perceived in wrong intention because Kamal sir has decided to do the advertisement to help the AIDS Patients.”

“The entire sum of money received from the endorsement will be donated for welfare of AIDS patients, particularly the innocent kids who are suffering due to the deadly virus,” he quipped.

Truly an eye-opener for Bollywood star, who despite getting hefty amount from the film assignment, run after more money endorsing products caring a damn, whether it harms or cons the innocent consumers!!!

Did Sex Bomb Silk Smitha contempt the legendary actor and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.G. Ramchandran?

South actress Silk Smitha was a renowned vamp, seductress and the lady, who dared to bare! She ruled the 80’s with glamour and was a craze among film goers in South India. With SADMA, she became familiar to Hindi audiences. September 23 marks her birthday; Raaga.Com remembers the Sex Bomb and clarifies an infamous misconception about the sizzling actress.

In an interview to a renowned national magazine Silk Smitha was asked few harsh questions which targeted her haughty, unsocial and arrogant attitude, however the actress gave the answers so as to clear the misconceptions spread by few scandalous film magazines.

On being quizzed about the infamous episode when she dared to contempt the legendary actor and much admired Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.G. Ramchandran by ignoring his invitation and boycotted a public function, she said, “Yes it is true I did not attend the function and the media had a great time fabricating stories against me.”

Explaining the reason for not attending the function she said, “An invitation by our honorable Chief Minister M.G. Ramchandran sir was an event that I could not even dream to boycott.”

She informed, “As I prepared with enthusiasm and was eager to attend the function I was suddenly broken down by a phone call.”

“My film producer called me and asked me to cancel all my assignments for the day and report for shooting urgently as the film’s hero, superstar Chiranjeevi, was leaving abroad the same evening. All my aspirations to attend the Chief Minister’s function were dazed and I was compelled to skip Shri M.G.R’s sir public event and rush for the film’s shooting,” she lamented.

Bollywood’s iconic actor Ranbir Kapoor booked in ‘Cheating and Conning Case!’

In a startling case Bollywood’s iconic actor Ranbir Kapoor has been booked in ‘Cheating and Conning Case’ in Mumbai. Besides Ranbir Kapoor, actor-director Farhan Akhtar too has also been booked in a criminal breach of trust and forgery case for promoting an online shopping site which is allegedly ‘duping’ customers.

The Madiyaon police station (about 10 km from in Mumbai) informed media that a F.I.R. has been registered against both actors Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar for promoting a portal askmebazaar.com that is allegedly conning consumers by collecting money for them but not delivering the promised product.

The F.I.R. has been lodged by a lawyer Rajat Bansal who has complaint that his client a resident of Keshav Nagar, has been duped by the portal of Rs 30,000/-. According to the police Rajat Bansal’s client had ordered a 40-inch LED TV from the portal after being influenced by the actors Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar’s effective promotion. He paid Rs 29,999 by debit card but despite waiting for 10 days he did not get the promised LCD TV.

The police have booked Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar under IPC sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (forgery) on September 19,2015.

Besides Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar, the police have also booked directors of online askmebazaar.com - portal Sanjiv Gupta, Anand Sonbhadra, Piyush Pankaj, Kiran Kumar Sriniwas Murti and marketing officer Puja Goyal. Bansal.

It may be noted that this is not the first time when film stars have come under scanner for promoting products that have conned people into beveling their sweet talks and falling prey to them. Remember Madhuri Dixit becoming victim of FDA for promoting Maggi Noodles.

Three Cheers for SS Rajamouli's BAAHUBALI; wins first Best Special Effects Award!

SS Rajamouli's BAAHUBALI has been making waves as a movie par excellence both in terms of its superlative content and of course it technical brilliance from day one, when it was first released on July 10, 2015.

After breaking box office records and becoming India’s first non-Hindi film to enter the 500 Crore club the movie added another feather in its cap. The movie has fetched its First Major Award – the much deserved Best Special Effects Award given by the esteemed NDTV Gadgets Guru Awards at a function held at Hyderabad.

It may be noted that the NDTV Gadgets Guru Awards in Best Special Effects is more precious for the movie, particularly because, the award is the ‘Country's Biggest Awards’ in the field of Consumer Electronics, Gadgets and Technology. Thus unlike the countries’ other popular awards like Filmfare, Screen etc the NDTV Gadgets Guru Awards is more worthy as it is judged by a jury who excels in Electronics, Gadgets and Technology!

The award was accepted by actor Rana Daggupati, in the absence of the Special Effects team of BAAHUBALI. Accepting the award Rana Daggupati did not forget to mention visual effects supervisor Srinivas Mohan because it was his excellence that played a pivotal role in making the movie a visual treat with splendid imagery - exquisite waterfalls, dazzling snow-covered mountains and an awesome terrain of the kingdom.

However the special effect work for the movie was quite strenuous and exhausting. Informing about its laborious efforts Rana Daggupati in a lighter vain informed, “We shot for over 320 days but the VFX took over three and half years to be completed,” he smiled. “I and Prabhas have talked about it and we felt that we would only be doing BAAHUBALI all our lives.”

Readers may be aware that the same special effects team of BAHUBALI was same who excelled the special effects the Hollywood film JURASSIC WORLD.

The production team had spend a whopping 85 crore on visual effects only. In fact the movie has approximately 4,500-5,000 VFX shots! That means 90 per cent of the movie has complex computer-generated imagery (CGI) and VFX shots. So the Best Special Effects is hundred percent worthy!!!

MTV Big F show to depict fictional sex tales on TV!

It seems Indian television is crossing all the limits of ethics and moral and becoming bold and sexy. After TV serial like BIGG BOSS that opening exhibit intimate steamy romance and dirty language, MTV has gone a step ahead and is making a bold TV serial called MTV Big F!

The name of the serial ‘Big F!’ evidently explains the implicit content of the serial. The serial aims at showcasing barred sex stories that one comes across Adult Magazine like Fantasy and its like.

According to famous TV actor Gautam Gulati, who is these days making waves as TV anchor, would be anchoring this show. Briefing media he said that the show would be the first of its kind that would boldly depict illicit love affairs and clandestine fantasies of young couples.

For the promotion of the TV show Gautam Gulati has done a passionate kiss show that has already gone viral among the MTV’s targeted youth audience.

Speaking about the photo shot Gautam Gulati, “I just shot for the promo, which keeping in line with the concept of the show, explores fantasies people have. In the photo shot I’m seen kissing on screen for the first time. It looks perfect and matches the vibe of the show. Also, it sets the tone for what’s to come once the show goes on air.”

Interestingly on one hand the government bans porn on internet while on the other hand it gives permission to such dirty shows that are sure to harm the younger generation. Shouldn’t right thinking organization raise a voice because TV is watched by family hence it could have far reaching implication on the youth and more particularly on the adolescents!

Kapil Sharma: Like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, I will do both TV and films simultaneously!

Lady luck is really smiling with full brilliance on stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, who after the success of his comedy show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil', has become country most loved comedian.  A picture of his success can be gauged from the fact that Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar has bestowed her blessing for the success of his debut film.

In may be noted Kapil Sharma is making his debut into Bollywood with filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan's romantic-comedy, KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROO, which also stars Arbaaz Khan, Elli Avram, Varun Sharma and Manjari Phadnis among others.

Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar in her tweet blessing Kapli Sharma wrote, “Your film is releasing on Friday and I would like to congratulate you and wish you good luck for the same.”

Besides getting wishes and compliments from many film celebrates for the success of his film debut film, Kapli Sharma also had the prestige of attending the most reputed TV Show Rajat Sharma’s 'Aap Ki Adalat' on India TV.

During the show when Rajat Sharma quizzed him that after the success of his film will he abandon the TV industry, Kapil intelligently replied, "Even Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan sir are doing TV shows while working in films. Does Akshay Kumar means Deepika Padukone and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are ‘Fake Actors’?

Akshay Kumar may be ruling the roost in Bollywood giving hit after hits and enjoying stardom. However, recently the actor made an ugly remark that attacked the sincerity and dedication of genuine actors, who put in their heart and soul into their character to make its lively.

Akshay Kumar, who is busy these days working in around 3to 4 films a year, was recently asked; doesn’t he feel exhausted doing so many films? In reply Akshay said, “When we are provided A-Grade facilities like air-conditioned vanity vans to relax, dry fruits foods to eat and lovely ladies to work than how can it be taxing?”

Indirectly taunting at serious actors, who claim it is quite tiresome to do certain characters Akshay Kumar taunted, “I think it is only ‘fake actors’ who claim about getting completely drained after doing a film.”

It seems Akshay Kumar was indirectly attacking at Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who recently remarked that working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's BAJIRAO MASTANI had been more draining than RAM LEELA.

In an interview she said, "Working in BAJIRAO MASTANI has been very difficult. It has been the toughest film of my career. I worked very hard for this film. When we did RAM LEELA it was emotionally and physically draining film, but now, RAM LEELA feels easy and effortless in comparison to Bajirao Mastani.”

In fact Deepika Padukone is not the only actress who has made such a remake. Whenever an actor does a tough character, he does make such a statement.

Remember recently versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who gave a mindboggling performance in MANJHI - THE MOUNTAIN MAN had candidly confessed that even after doing the film he could not come out from the character for many days. He said, “For many days I was so captivated in the character that to get away from the character I had to leave Mumbai, quite my shooting and spend quality time in the midst of nature.”

I think since Mr. Akshay Kumar has never done such kind of complex and nerve-racking roles he may not understand their trauma and their pain. Hence he deserved to be ‘pardoned’ for terming such exceptionally brilliant actors as ‘fake actors!’ Readers what do you think??

Clash of Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on the eve of Ganesh Utsav! Who won the war?

It was a clash of titans on the eve of Ganesh Utsav when South Indian Cinema’s two greatest Superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth came on loggerheads for prompting their respective movies to bank the festival’s popularity.

Kamal Haasan took the initiative by releasing the trailers of his much anticipated movie THOONGAAVANAM. Later in the evening, on the same say, Thalaiva Rajinikanth unveiled the First Look of his latest movie KABALI

No sooner the trailer of THOONGAAVANAM and first look of KABALI were released, the social media was literally ignited with fanatical fans of both the superstars going berserk. So the multi dollar question is - who won this virtual war between the two superstars?

According to reports once again the Iconic Superstar Rajinikanth has overpowered the dynamic Superstar Kamal Haasan. As per dominance of their movies on social network it is reported that Kamal Haasan’s THOONGAAVANAM ruled for three hours while in comparison Rajinikanth’s KABALI first look dominated Twitter for an exhaustive seven hours!!!

Thus clearly establishing Rajinikanth’s supremacy over Kamal Haasan! However though Rajinikanth’s KABALI may have outscored Kamal Haasan’s THOONGAAVANAM among the film buffs but the fact remains that both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are actors par excellence and have an equal authority over the medium.

If on one hand Kamal Haasan has done artistically brilliant films like NAYAGAN, HEY RAM, ANBE SIVAM and ALAVANTHAN that exposed his potentiality as an exceptional actor. On the other hand Rajinikaanth too has proved his competence as an actor to reckon in parallel cinema with movies like MULLUM MALARUM, SRI RAGHAVENDRA and NETRIKANN!

Thus in nutshell, the war is won by neither Rajinikaanth or by Kamal Haasan. It is just the sensation of the media that creates a pseudo conflict to generate marketing gimmick for the promotion of the movies!!!

Interestingly once Kamal Haasan has rightly said, "Rajini and I used to release our films almost every Friday in the 1980s, but not anymore. Today, we have slowed down, not because of our age, but because of budget constraints. We can't afford to have the release of our big budget films on the same day."

Love to taste R.D. Burman’s favorite Dish? Visit Asha Bhosle’s new restaurant at Manchester in U.K.

Music monarch R.D.Burman and singing legend Asha Bhosle may be famous for their mind-blowing music but few are aware that both had a penchant for food. While Burman is no more, his wife Asha Bhosle continues their passion for food. Her signature restaurant Asha’s - the 10th hotel will soon be inaugurated at Manchester in U.K. Asha Bhosle, 82, will be among the guests at the VIP launch party scheduled on Thursday and the restaurant will officially open its doors on Friday.

It may be noted Asha Bhosle started hotel business in the 1990’s with her first restaurant at Wafi City, Dubai and since then she has opened many hotels in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Bharain, Egypt etc and what’s amazing is that her acclaimed chain of hotels have featured in the Michelin Guide more than eight times.

Located in the heritage mid-nineteenth century Grade II listed building on the corner of Peter Street and Mount Street (opposite the Midland) in Manchester, the hotel has been into renovation for the past one year and has spent around £2m on its revamp. The restaurant displays portraits of Bhosle and her family, along with beaded fringing inspired by her stage costumes and Asha Bhosle’s fondness for jewellery.

The hotel is generously spacious spread across two floors and over 6000 sq ft; Upper ground floor includes a 100-cover restaurant while the lower ground floor will host a cocktail bar for 70 and private dining.

Susan Potter, International Group Director of Asha's informed the menu is traditional Indian cuisine with many of the dishes been named as a tribute to the singer’s career and relatives.

One among the many includes ‘Chingri Chaap’, which was the favorite dish of her husband, R.D.Burman. Hence it is named as ‘R.D.Burman Chingri Chaap’

Apart from special curries like ‘bharwan tandoori aloo’, ‘tandoori jhenga’ and ‘murg masala’, the menu includes ‘Hare baingnan ka bharta’ (one of Bhosle’s mother’s favorite dishes).

According to Susan Potter the highlight of the restaurant is the passion of Asha Bhosle and her son. He says, "With every menu, Asha and her son Anand are personally involved.”

The Manchester branch is her second hotel in the UK, after Birmingham.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali exploits Ganesh Chaturthi festival with the lunch of BAJIRAO MASTANI’s first song Gajanana…

The auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi festival that begins today with the holy chants of Ganpati Bappa Moriya and worshipping of Lord Ganesh's idol has been skillfully exploited by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali as a perfect marketing vehicle to promote his magnum opus upcoming film BAJIRAO MASTANI.

Keeping an eye on the popular Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which is widely celebrated with much enthusiasm and passion in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and South India, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has intentionally used it as an ideal platform to launch his movie’s first song Gajanana…

The song that praises Lord Ganesha is thus likely to appeal all Ganesh devotees and would give a big boost to the film’s promotion.

It may be noted on September 15, 2015 the song was launched at Pune's Balewadi stadium. Marketing gurus believe the release of the song on the eve of the most revered Ganesh Utsav and that too from Pune city, which is regarded as the hub of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, is an intelligent marketing gimmick by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it will surely reap rich dividends to him.

A marketing guru predicts, “The song is sure to became a hit as the song will be the hot favorite at all Ganesha pandals around the nation and will be definitely be played repeatedly thus making it a national craze.”

“Every year there is at least one Ganesha song and with Gajanana… being the newest addition in the Ganesh Chaturthi playlist it is sure to become quite popular,” he added.

The song is sung by famous singer Sukhwinder Singh, who has a range of hit song like Jai Ho… (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE), Banjaara…. (EK THA TIGER), Shah Ka Rutba… (AGNEEPATH), Tore Bina… (KAHAANI).

Much ado about Superstar Rajinikanth’s purposed film TIPU SULTAN!

Superstar Rajinikanth, who has been hogging limelight in the past few weeks due to his upcoming movie KABALI and its ‘First Look’ has suddenly found himself in soup with Hindu outfits allegedly threatening him not to give his consent for the film based on heroic historical Mysore King Tipu Sultan, proposed by Kannada producer Ashok Kheny.

Initially the threat was issued by a little known Hindu fringe outfit Hindu Munnani, who tried to seek cheap publicity from the news but what is regrettable is that now the ‘unholy’ protest has been joined by many fanatical BJP leaders, who have come out openly and termed the nationalist Tipu Sultan as anti Hindu thus spreading the venom of hatred within the secular nation.

Prominent among those who are protesting against the movie include BJP national secretary H Raja, who has claimed Tipu Sultan was a ‘murderer’. Another Senior BJP leader L. Ganesan has called Tipu Sultan an aggressor, who committed maximum atrocities against Hindus. Senthil Kumar, state secretary of the Hindu Makkal Katchi has defamed the 18th century ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore, as a robber, who robbed this country!

Interesting while the Hindu outfits are banging their drums and tarnishing the image of India’s great revolutionary leader, sources close to Rajinikanth have revealed that much ado is being made about the film.

A source said, “The fact is Rajinikanth is not even aware of the ongoing controversy and is busy focusing on his forthcoming film KABALI.”

Another amusing side of the controversy is that producer Ashok Kheny has still not began writing the script. Briefing media, he confided, “Yes the script is in its planning stage.”

He informed, “I wished to make a historical movie on lines Hollywood film GANDHI, hence when I first met Rajin Sir, we discussed few stories about Indian rulers and finally agreed on Tipu Sultan because he was secular and played an important role in widening trade with foreign nations.”

Rajini Sir was interested in the story. He said it was a good idea and asked me to go ahead with the story and the script though he did not gave his confirmation,” he quipped.

Thus one wonders, while the story of the film is not ready and most importantly Rajinikanth has not given his confirmation for the film then why is so much ado being made of the film?
