Taekwondo Association Awards Tiger Shroff 5th Degree Black Belt

Tiger Shroff, the young, dynamic actor and son of legendary actor Jackie Shroff is on sky line thanks to the astounding success of his debut film HEROPANTI. The movie besides fetching junior Shroff stardom has won him honorary 5th degree black belt Kukkiwon -World Taekwondo Headquarters (part of the South Korean Government).

Tiger Shroff was awarded the honorary 5th degree black belt at Mumbai on July 30, 2014 after the officials Kukkiwon were impressed by his stunning action sequences and martial arts in his movie HEROPANTI. An official speaking to media said, “The reason why Kukkiwon has chosen Tiger Shroff for this honor is because believes Tiger Shroff is the ideal youth icon as he will inspire children and women to take up martial arts and self defense training in order to protect themselves.”

Elated at receiving the award Tiger Shroff said, “Martial art is a way of my life as since childhood I have been attached to martial arts and a dedicated student of Martial arts. Though I feel happy at being honored with the title yet I feel I am too young to deserve this honor as I have to still learn a lot.” 

Prior to Tiger Shroff actor Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has also been conferred with the title "Honorary Black belt of Taekwondo. In addition South Indian sensational actor Mohanlal too has been awarded a black belt.

The Taekwondo Association of India has been on a mission to promote the art among youngsters, since Taekwondo is a sport in the Olympics.

In the last issue you read how after 34 years after the demise of Mohd. Rafi his fans all over the universe continue to adore his voice and listen to his songs day in and day out. In this part read how Rafi had a passion since childhood and how he rose to stardom 

Right since childhood, Rafi had penchant for singing, but his father objected to it. Nevertheless, young Rafi consoled himself singing:

It was Rafi’s uncle who imparted musical training and also introduced him to Feroz Nizami, managing in charge of Radio, Lahore. Rafi met him praying:


Lady luck smiled on Rafi as he celebrated singing:


Soon Rafi landed in Mumbai with song on his lips


Music maestro Naushad gave him his first break and their union consaolided like the song:


The other association that Rafi cherished was with Music directors Shankar Jaikishen and actor Shammi Kapoor. This trilogy made the 60’s a golden era in Indian film industry:


But such a trilogy will never be formed!

Rafi’s ability to sing a variety of songs made him the most sought after singer. Music directors pleaded:

‘Chal chal mere bhai tere haath jodta hoon…’

And Rafi responded, obliging


Rafi’s genius as a singer can be attributed from the fact that he has lend his voice also to playback singers cum actors like Kishore Kumar and Talat Mehmood, surely one has to bow and say:
