A.R. Rahman organizes ‘Nenje Ezhu’ concert to cheer people affected by December floods in Tamil Nadu

In an attempt to cheer the people affected by the devastation of December flood music wizard A.R. Rahman has organized a musical concert to be held in Chennai on 16th January; Coimbatore on 23rd of January 2016) and for the first time A.R. Rahman will be performing Live in Madurai on 31st January, 2016.

Briefing media about the concert A R Rahman said, “We have intentionally named the concert as ‘Nenje Ezhu’ concert because the devastative flood in Tamil Nadu has completely wrecked the state and people are still living in fear. Hence to cheer up the people of Tamil Nadu I decided to use my morale boosting song Nenje Ezhu…. From my film Dhanush starrer film MARYAN.”

He added, “We taken little creative liberty and altered few lines in the lyrics of the song Nenje Ezhu … to suit the Tamil Nadu flood devastation. The song is an excellent morale booster that not only cheers people but also peps up confidence and energy to face the odd conditions with smile and determination.”

Rahman informed that the concert is basically a fund raiser and a balm to give solace to the people by way of soothing music that could probably help in cheering the mood of the victims hit by the floods. The funds collected will be donated for the rehabilitation of flood victims.

Besides AR Rahman heading the concert many more celebrated singers from South Indian film fraternity have extended their support to the concert and will be part of the noble cause. Singers who will sing in this concerts include legendary singers like SPB, Hariharan, Haricharan, Karthik, Benny Dayal, Swetha Mohan, Sasha Juanita, Blaaze and many others.

“I have not performed in Chennai or Tamil Nadu much - I have probably done two or three concerts. I have performed in the U.S. more than here! Hence I think the concert would be unique and what’s more it will feature pure Tamil songs no Hindi songs,” Rahman quipped.
