Filmmaker Shaad Ali falls back on his mentor Mani Ratnam for success! To remake 'O KADHAL KANMANI'

In Hindi there is a popular axiom Laut Ke Buddhu Ghar Ko Aaye... which literally means to repent after committing idiocy.

It seems the axiom suits to a perfect T to define young and dynamic filmmaker Shaad Ali because after a series of failures and setbacks the young and dynamic filmmaker is back to his roots i.e. relying once again on his mentor South film wizard Mani Ratnam for success.

According to latest reports Shaad Ali peeved after the disastrous failure of his past two big budget multi starrer films viz JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM (2007) and KILL DIL (2014) has decided to remake Mani Ratnam's Tamil super hit film, 'O KADHAL KANMANI' starring Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen.

It may be noted that Shaad Ali, who began his career as assistant with Mani Ratnam in DIL SE has been highly influenced by his style of making. Hence when made his debut in Bollywood, to be on a safer side, he remade Mani Ratnam's Tamil film 'ALAIPAYUTHEY' (2000) and the movie hit the bull’s eye.

Once again when Shaad Ali’s career is at the cross road he has decided to lean on his mentor’s shoulder.

What is interesting is that 'O KADHAL KANMANI' itself has been a saving grace for the brilliant director because after 'ALAIPAYUTHEY' (2000) Mani Ratnam had struggled to give a single hit.

Remember after ALAIPAYUTHE, Mani Ratnam had directed 7 films viz. – KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAL (2002) in Tamil, a bilingual YUVA (2004) in Hindi which became AAYUDHE EZHUTHU in Tamil, another bilingual RAAVAN (2010) in Hindi and RAAVANAN in Tamil, and KADAL (2013) in Tamil.

Out of these films only GURU (2007) in Hindi proved a commercial hit and then after a gap of 8 years 'O KADHAL KANMANI' (2015) hit the jackpot!

We hopes like Mani Ratnam, Shaad Ali too is able to give a hit!
