Eminent filmmaker and brilliant story writer Mahesh Bhatt has expressed alarm at the remarkable resemblance to his story AB RAAT GUZARNEWALI HAI with the controversial Sheena Bora murder case involving former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea's wife, Indrani Mukerjea for allegedly murdering her own daughter Sheena.
Speaking to leading national daily Mahesh Bhatt said, “I have been left astonished with the similarities in the Sheena Bora murder case and my new story that I have completed in May this year.”
“Creative ideas are usually born out of incidents from real life but incidentally my story of AB RAAT GUZARNEWALI HAI is an instance of fiction imitating life,” he wondered.
Based on the family of a media baron, Mahesh Bhatt’s AB RAAT GUZARNEWALI HAI, depicts the surprising tale of a mother conspiring the murder of her own daughter to restore her pride in the society that is at stake due to her daughter’s illicit relationship.
Like Madhur Bhandarkar PAGE 3 Bhatt’s AB RAAT GUZARNEWALI HAI exposes the high society’s haughty characters inebriated on money, power and status. The movie unmasks their greed for wealth, sex and their pseudo relationships.
To be produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada AB RAAT GUZARNEWALI HAI will go in to production in December this year.
On being quizzed if Bhatt plans to add new angles related to the recent Sheena Bora murder case in his story, Bhatt candidly adds, “I have written the story and it is perfectly in place. What is baffling me is that I never imagined that it could have happened in real life?”
“The coincidence between a pure work of fiction and real life staggers me, it makes me shudder," he quipped.
One wonders if Mahesh Bhatt is really genuine in his reaction or is trying to take the society on ride because Bollywood is known for minting money by making movies on hot sensational tragedies.
