Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s daughters turn saviors of short films

Short films in India are still a long way to go but thanks to the huge amount of appreciation that these films are garnering at various film festivals has given a new ray of hope to talented and experimental filmmakers to shine. 

What is further interesting is that South superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s daughter’s viz. Aishwaryaa R Dhanush and Shruti Haasan have vowed to give a new lease of life to short films in India. 

According to latest reports Aishwaryaa Dhanush has launched a YouTube channel, Ten Entertainment exclusively dedicated to promotion of short-film made in South languages. While Shruti Haasan whose new Telugu film SRIMANTHUDU, is rocking at the box office has launched her own production house, Isidro. It will focus on short films, digital films, musical and multimedia-based modern content on all India basis.


Briefing media Aishwaryaa Dhanush said, “The short film industry is in a pathetic condition in India. There is no one to encourage budding filmmakers, who are packed with creativity and talent. Hence to give such raw talents a platform I have taken an initiative where we will select short-films across four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The shortlisted ones will go up on the channel so they can be seen by everyone around the globe.” 

Meanwhile Shruti Haasan too has taken the initiative to take give new wings to the short filmmakers with her production house, Isidro. While Aishwaryaa Dhanush’s channel restricts to only South language short films, Shruti Haasan’s production house will entertain short filmmakers from pan India. 

Informing about her home production Shruti Haasan said, “Our production house will assist promising talents across India engaged in short films and will also endorse independent and young artists in helping them reach out their talent.”
