The younger generation recognizes him as the funny man thanks to filmmaker Sajid Khan for giving Rajnjeet, the veteran villain of the 70’s, a new lease of life in Bollywood with his hit film 'HOUSEFULL 2'.
The success of the movie has revived Ranjeet’s career, who was once regarded as the iconic baddie of Indian cinema having the dubious distinction of committing around 350 rapes onscreen and credited as Rape Specialist in Bollywood. Hence if readers would recollect in 'HOUSEFULL 2', Sajid Khan had evoked humor tapping Ranjeet’s this dubious distinction!!
After 'HOUSEFULL 2' Ranjeet has changed gears and attempting comedy . He has been signed in WELCOME 2, Saurabh Varma’s next and others. In fact even on TV Ranjeet has proved his histrionics in comedy. His hilarious character of Colonel Khanna in the tele serial BAAT BAN JAYE made him a household name. Further with his comedy serial, JUGNI CHALI JALLANDHAR on SAB TV, Ranjeet won many laurels for his comedy.
Speaking about his transition from villainy to comedy Ranjeet says, “Today, films don’t have villains, vamps or comedians. The stories have changed, and we have to change with times. I enjoy doing comedy. Even when I do comic plays, people tell me that I should have been a comedian.”
Besides acting in films and TV, Ranjeet is fond of theater. He was recently engaged in two comic plays - HANKY PANKY and PAPA DON'T PREACH, ''Theatre calls for plenty of improvisation, and this gives inner satisfaction as an actor.”, he quips.
