Bollywood rivalry is common. Be it the rivalry between the Three Khan’s and as regards actresses Bollywood is famous for its axiom ‘Actresses can never be good friends’! Bollywood has a long list like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor; Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma; Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha etc.
However an exceptional example was seen recently when actress Deepika Padukone bagged the Best Actress award for Happy New Year at the Screen Awards and graciously dedicated her award to the most deserving actress of the year viz. Kangana Ranaut, who is excellent in her movie QUEEN but incidentally has been ignored the honor till now.
While picking her Screen Best Actress Award Deepika Padukone, who is known for opening her heart out candidly confessed, “Thank you for this award, but I believe that this year belonged to Kangana. So, Kangana, this one’s for you.”
Deepika Padukone’s humane gesture takes one memory down lane to the year 1992 when Amiatbh Bachchan was awarded the Best Actor Filmfare Award for his marvelous performance of a gangster turned Good Samaritan in Mukul Anand’s HUM. However that year Sanjay Dutt had given his career’s most powerhouse performance in Lawrence D'Souza’s SAAJAN, starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Salman Khan.
The highlight of the movie was that Sanjay Dutt, unlike is routine image of an action hero, played a tragic role of a handicapped poet, who secretly loves the heroine fearing her rejection being disabled. The movie was super hit not only for its song but the splendid performance of Sanjay Dutt.
Hence when Amitabh Bachchan went up the dice to receive the award he dedicated the award to Sanjay and called him up on stage and himself handed his award to him.
