It seems 'Mozart of Madras' AR Rahman is set to score a hat trick at the prestigious Oscar Awards, which incidentally has been eluding Indian cinema in the Best Film category.
A R Rahman appeared top contender in the final list of 114 contending scores from eligible movies released in 2014 to be considered for Original Score category for the 87th Oscars Awards announced by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

A.R. Rahman surprised the world by winning double Oscar for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. In 2011, he had received two nominations for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards for his original score in Boyle’s 127 Hours as well as original song If I Rise for the same movie.
The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 15, 2015. The Oscar ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.
The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
