Public Verdict - Aamir Khan’s PK is a complete ‘Paisa Vasool’ movie!

Usually when expectation runs high it becomes difficult to live up to the standards. Bollywood has many instances when a much anticipated big budget movie had fallen flat on its face. The best example probably would be Boney Kapoor’s ROOP KI RANI CHORON KA RAJA (1993) staring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, which was the costliest movie of its time and was eagerly anticipated but turned out a colossal disaster at the box office!

However there are few examples when a much anticipated movie has proved the test of the audience. The recent Aamir Khan - Rajkumar Hirani's PK fall in the second category.

According to the reports pouring from the people who seen PK, the movie is being raved for its satirical take on the conservative and complex issues of religion and superstitions. Though the subject has been depicted before but what makes PK remarkable is that it handles the grave issue in a roller costar ride of humor and emotion.

Rajkumar Hirani with the movie has revived the memory of the great showman Raj Kapoor who made commercial movies with hard-hitting serious subjects remember AWAAR, MERA NAAM JOKER, PREM ROG, RAM TERI GANGA MALI, HEENA etc.

Likewise Rajkumar Hirani with a commercial backdrop has made a thought provoking movie that ridicules the society rituals and the culture amidst which we have grown but have always been indifferent to it. The simple question asked by the protagonist (Aamir Khan), who plays an alien, compels us to ponder and leaves us dumbfounded on many myths prevalent even today in our society.

Aamir Khan steals the show with his natural performance and his funny one-liners are being applauded the most. Anuksha Sharam is dynamic in the role of journalist.

Besides excellent direction Rajkumar Hirani deserves kudos for his mind-blowing script which he has written in association with Abhijat Joshi. The movie has an absorbing narration and to add glitter to the narration are sterling performances by its supporting cast of Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Saurabh Shukla and Ram Sethi.

Thus PK has all the necessary ingredients ranging from an excellent script, melodious music, remarkable camera work and wonderful editing all that makes the movie a completely paisa vasool affair.

The movie through its sarcastic humor laced with dollops of emotions leaves the viewers in awe. It seems Vidhu Vinod Chopra has yet again minted gold and `PK` is sure to surpass the top grosser of 2014.
