With the induction of popular Bollywood singer Babul Supriyo, into the Union Council of Ministers in Modi’s recent cabinet expansion, it is evident that our Prime Minister surely has a penchant towards film celebrities.
43-year-old Babul Supriyo, who ruled Bollywood charts and performed as a lead actor in Bengali films is the youngest minister in Narendra Modi government. He has been awarded Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.
It may be recalled that when Modi had formed his first council of ministers after winning the Lok Sabha General election he had included Smriti Zubin Irani, famous TV serial actress, best known for her role in popular serial Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She was awarded the Minister of Human Resource Development of Government of India.
Besides this Modi’s inclination towards film celebrities can be judged from the fact that Modi has maintained a close proximity with the film celebrities ranging from Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan to the three Khan’s of Bollywod’s to South sensation Rajnikant.
It may be remembered while contesting the Lok Sabha election he went down South and took the blessing of Thalaiva Rajnikant. Besides he had invited Salman Khan to Gujarat and had celebrated the famous kite festival.
In addition, during his Swearing-In- Ceremony as Prime Minister, held in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 26, 2014, Modi took care to invite the film industry stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Salman Khan and veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar to grace the occasion.
He has entertained Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar and many stars in his individual Prime Minister’s office, which is quite incredible indeed.
What’s more Narendra Modi has developed so much adoration among film celebrities that on his one call of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the entire film fraternity came out on streets to clean their respective areas and set example for others to keep India clean. In fact South superstar Kamal Hassan celebrated his 60th birthday by indulging in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan!
And last but not the least Narendra Modi is perhaps India’s first Prime Minister who is so close to film celebrities that he has accepted the wedding invitation card of Salman Khan’s sister Aprita Khan and would be possibly gracing the event!!
