The deadly combination of South Sensational director Shankar and actor Vikram, the two who rocked the national with their super hit movie APARICHITUDU, which was also dubbed in Hindi as APARICHIT, six years back are back together with their latest magnum opus 'I' - a Tamil romantic action thriller. And what’s interesting, yet again like APARICHITUDU, the latest film ‘I’ is being dubbed in Hindi too as the dynamic combo of Shankar and actor Vikram wish to tap Bollywood once again.
Will the duo succeed, time will tell but one thing is certain Bollywood filmmakers are after Vikarm to make a second inning in Bollywood.
Readers may recollect that Vikram had made a tryst with Bollywood with movies like Mani Ratnam's RAAVAN and Bejoy Nambiar's DAVID but after both the movies failed he doesn’t wish to burn his hands yet again in Bollywood.
Briefing the media the actor confessed, “Its true as many as three filmmakers wished to cast me in Bollywood. One filmmaker was even ready to make a bilingual (Hindi-Tamil). But I turned down all the offers as my priority is southern cinema, which has made me a star.”
He added, “I am willing to experiment in Southern language movies but Bollywood is not my cup of tea as there is much competition and it is all ready spilling over with the superstars.”
Though APARICHIT, the Hindi version of APARICHITUDU, failed to click at the box- office in Mumbai but the movie won millions of Mumbaikars heart after it was telecast on Zee TV. Even today whenever the movie is repeat telecast on TV it generates great revenue through advertisements due to its popularity.
Hence Bollywood filmmakers are keen to exploit Vikram’s stardom in Bollywood but the actor wishes to concentrate in South.
