Whenever our nation has been stuck by a natural calamity Bollywood has always come forward to help the victims. Grieved by the worst ever flood that has hit Jammu and Kashmir in six decades Bollywood has not just expressed the mourning by social networking sites but have also lend support for the noble cause.
Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor, who came to fame with the hit film RANG DE BASANTI expressing his grief over twitter, has informed that he has tied up with an NGO Care India and is raising funds to provide daily necessities to the flood hit victims of Jammu and Kashmir.
He tweeted, "In association with an NGO, I have started a fundraiser to help raise money for the terrible situation in Kashmir!! The situation is far worse than you can imagine. And people are in need of immediate help. You can help them.”
"Every contribution, no matter how small, matters. You can contribute by cash, cheque or card. Help Now!!!," he added.
According to Kunal the NGO has decided to provide kits having basic essentials of daily use for survival such as tarpaulin, mats, hygiene Kit (Soap ,toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary napkins and disinfectants soaps) and blankets.
Overwhelmed by the humanitarian efforts of Kunal Kapoor’s support, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan too has come forward and joined the Care India help drive. He has funded for the first 20kits and through social networking sites called upon his fans and concerned Indian to come ahead and contribute for the gracious cause wholeheartedly.
In his tweed Hrithik Roshan said, “The floods have devastated the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It’s saddening, the number of people whose homes and lives have just been wiped out. I want to do something to help them. And I know there are people just like me, who want to help too.”
He added, “So kindly join this greatest mission for mankind. Let’s raise funds for the people of Kashmir together. Let’s stand by our countrymen and do whatever we can to help them deal with their losses. We can help them gradually rebuild their homes and their lives. We CAN make a difference together.”
Meanwhile other Bollywood celebrities too took to tweeter and other social network to convey sympathies and prayers for the flood victims. Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, "Hope and Pray the flood situation in Kashmir gets controlled sooner than soon."
Others who tweeted include Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh, Huma Qureshi, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor , Sulaiman Merchant, Chetan Bhagat etc.
Arjun Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar and Abhishek Bachchan applauded the army for their heroic work. Arjun Kapoor tweeted, "I salute the bravery of our armed forces and I pray for everyone in Jammu Kashmir...life is soo bloody cruel sometimes..."
