Aamir Khan’s contribution to cinema, both as an actor and film maker is commendable. In fact his concern for the nation as a whole too is beyond doubt.
In an interview to a leading TV channel when Aamir was quizzed whether he would be interested to become Rajya Sabha member like cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and actress Rekha, Aamir, immediately said, “If such an opportunity arrives I would definitely garb it with both hands because it would give me a bigger platform to help the needy and deprived.”
On being asked whether he would find time to attend Rajya Sabha since Sachin Tendulkar and actress Rekha rarely attend, Aamir Khan, promptly replied, “I do not wish to comment whether Sachin Tendulkar and actress Rekha attend the Rajya Sabha or not but if I become the member of Rajya Sabha, I will attend every day.”
Aamir’s confident reply seems laudable because his TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is a pointer towards his concern for his countrymen. In the first two seasons of 'Satyamev Jayate' he highlighted the harsh realities of the Indian society and talked about various social evils prevalent in the society, such as child sex abuse, female foeticide and dowry.
Yet again he is ready with the third season with a tagline of 'Mumkin Hai'-meaning it’s possible. The concept this time round will be to put the efforts in place. The show will talk about the ways and means of doing away with the social evils.
