Bollywood stars devotion for Lord Ganesha

Deva Ho Deva Ganapati Deva

Tumase Badhakar Kaun

Swaami Tumse Badhakar Kaun….

True words because Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed God is indeed the supreme God of all. He is believed to be the remover of obstacles and the God of beginnings and wisdom. Each year Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great passion and fervor in India, particularly in Maharashtra, where freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak began this festival to bring unity in diversity to fight the British and usher in freedom.

Like the rest of Maharashtra, Bollywood too celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi with same devotion and fervor. From the great Raj Kapoor to his great grandson Ranbir Kapoor, the Kapoor Khandaan has been an avid devotee of Lord Ganesha. Each year a huge idol of Lord Ganesh is brought at Raj Kapoor’s RK Studio in Chembur, Mumbai and later on the immersion day immersed with pomp and spectacle.

Besides the Kapoor Khan, actor Nana Patekar is also known for his devotion for Lord Ganesha. During the 11 days of the festival Nana is known for quitting his entire shooting schedules and all important assignments as he devotes passionately in the devotion of Lord Ganesha. From bringing the sacred idol to decoration and taking its care for 11 days Nana Patekar, himself, supervises all the rituals and traditions.

Among the other staunch devotees of Lord Ganesha in Bollywood include actors Jeetendra, Govinda, Rakesh Roshan just to name a few.

What’s amazing is that even Muslim stars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are great devotee of Lord Ganesha. Though many Muslim fundamentalist leaders did raised objections and passed Fatwa against Salman Khan and Shah Rukh, but the actors paid no heed. Both the actors are true secular and as they celebrate Idd with passion, they also celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with same compassion.
