‘KANMANIYE’

Isn’t the word ‘Kanmani’ very endearing? Don’t we all like it when people call us with a lot of love? The word ‘Kanmani’ is used more than often in our Tamil songs, be it to call a lover, a sister, daughter etc. The word by itself is beautiful and encompasses all the love one feels like expressing in that very single word. Kanmani anbodu kaadhalan’ from the movie Guna need s no introduction which is ofcourse a biggest hit of all songs, where we see Kamal Haasan sing for his beloved. In the movie ‘kadhal’ we see the hero Bharath singing for his heroine in the song ‘Unakenna irupaen, uyiraiyum kudupen’. The song actually emphasis more on the word ‘kanmaniye’, a heart touching song sung by the young Haricharan.

Kanmaniye pesu’ is another wonderful number from the movie ‘Kaakki Sattai’ that was released in the year 1985 which has the Ulaganayagan in the lead with Ambika and Madhavi playing the role of the leading ladies.

Another beautiful number is ‘Kanmaniye Kaadhal enbadhu karpanaiyo’ from the movie Aarilirunthu arubadhu varai, sung by S.P.Balasubramanyam and S.Janaki where we see our Superstar playing the lead in the movie.

‘Kanmani’ is also used to address a small kid – and ofcourse our ‘Anjali paapa’ suits the best to describe this. Don’t we all love the song ‘Anjali Anjali Anjali China Kanamani Kanmani’ from the movie ‘Anjali’. The movie China vathiyar with Prabhu Ganesan, Kushboo and Ranjitha in the lead has a song called ‘kanmaniye kanmaniye’, sung by S.P.B in Illaiyaraja’s tune, in this situation the hero singing for the heroine.
