Deepa Mehta’s Next Movie On Change Of Government In India

Deepa Mehta the acclaimed Indo-Canadian film director and screenwriter renowned for making hard hitting and often regarded as controversial movies like the taboo subject on lesbian relation in FIRE (1996) or Aamir Khan’s EARTH (1998) that dealt with the sensitive issue of partition and WATER (2005) that explored the traumatic lives of widows in India during British rule India, is back in news. 


According to reports Deepa Mehta announced her forthcoming movie with Bollywood hunk Randeep Hooda and Canadian sex siren Sarah Allen famed for her mesmerizing vampire’s role in BEING HUMAN.

Deepa Mehta who is known for cautiously selecting her actors like Aamir Khan in EARTH or John Abraham in WATE, this time has zeroed in on Randeep Hooda, who incidentally is Mira Nair’s own discovery as he made his debut in Nair’s successful movie MONSOON WEDDING in 2001. 

The movie will have a diverse cast of the film fraternity across the globe from US, Canada and India. Besides Hooda other Indian actors include Nair’s favorite Kulbushan Kharbanda and the ‘Bad Man’ Gulshan Grover

The movie will have music by Mychael Danna, Canadian film composer who recently won huge acclaim and multiple awards including the prestigious Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Original Score for LIFE OF PI. 

Giving a brief about the movie Deepa Mehta said, “The movie is based on the landslide victory of BJP’s Narendra Modi in India and the subsequent effects on the NRI settled in Canada.” She adds, “With the amazing victory of Narendra Modi there is jubilation among the Indian diaspora in Canada. They are hoping India will now be free from corruption and unemployment will cease and as Modi has promised ache din aayenge.”
