Although now due to many political reason Directors prefer to shoot abroad, this is a beloved outdoor location for many directorsSrinagar is called as ‘the city of immense splendor and wealth’ - and the beauty of it changed with the seasons. All the following songs are actually, visibly set in Kashmir. In essence, these are songs which show Srinagar in all its glory. Let’s take a quick look -

‘Yeh chaand sa roshan chehra’ from the movie Kashmir ki Kali is one of those quintessential Shammi Kapoor films. The movie had superb songs and picturised well too, against a backdrop of a breathtakingly lovely Kashmir, flowers, poplars, and shimmering waters. ‘Pukaarta chala hoon main mere sanam’ was yet another ‘Srinagar in all its glory’ song. Fabulous music, and Rafi at his best – ofcourse an all-time favourite for all of us.

'Jiya Re' from Jab Tak Hai Jaan is the latest song to be shot in the heavenly valley of Pahalgam and even after all these years, Kashmir's beauty hasn't faded at all. Similarly in the movie ‘Highway’ we witnessed the beautiful snow-capped mountains in Srinagar. ‘Madno' from Lamhaa is another melodious song shot at Pari Mahal, Dal Lake and some lovely gardens.Not many of us although know that 'Madno' is the Kashmiri word for honey.‘Tum Ho’ from ‘Rockstar’ is another song showing the high snowy mountains and rough terrained roads.

'Naam Adaa Likhna' from Yahaan is another hauntingly beautiful and sensual song shot in one of wild forests along the valley, be it the picturesque and the song – it did not fail to appeal the audience.'Chupke Se Sun' from Mission Kashmir has the heroine describing the beauty of Kashmir while the actors are on a Shikara in the Dal Lake. Ofcourse it makes sense to have shot the song in this location considering the storyline revolves around this theme.

“Yeh haseen Vaadiyaan” is perhaps the best song featuring the valley and the mountains. The song describes the beauty of the open sky and the streams flowing in the valley.
