Kangana Ranaut flaunts New York designer’s outfit at Nation Award, who designed Michelle Obama’s dress!

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is usually know for giving a miss at the multiple film award functions held annually but when it comes for National Film Awards, she has high regards.

Dressed in a stylish and fashionable outfit that was especially designed for the function by New York-based Indian designer Bibhu Mohapatra, whose collection was earlier worn by US first lady Michelle Obama at her India visit earlier this year, Kangana Ranaut stole the thunder at the National Award Nite.

Unlike the traditional Indian sari, which was worn by Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra, who bagged the National Award for THE DIRTY PICTURE and FASHION in the past years, Kangana Ranaut’s dress was ultra modern, typical of the kind seen generally worn by Hollywood actresses flaunting during Oscar awards.

Kangana Ranaut looked stunning in a light mauve body-hugging gown with a long cape and slit at the back. To dazzle the audience with her bewitching looks she had excellently matched her attire with her hair tied up in a bun and dark maroon lipstick that made her centre of attraction.

The award ceremony was held on May 3 at Vigyan Bhavan Plenary Hall at New Delhi amidst august gathering that included the honorable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, along with Arun Jaitley, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Finance and Corporate Affairs and Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.

Kangana received the Rajat Kamal from the hands of honorable President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, for Best Actress for her much-admired performance in 2014's QUEEN. Elated at receiving the award she said, “I am extremely happy and it seems everything is picture perfect.”

Kannada actor Vijay received the Rajat Kamal for Best Actor for NANU AVANALLA AVALU. Dhanush received the National Award for producing the film KAAKA MUTTAI which won the Best Child Actor and Best Children's Movie.

Actor Shashi Kapoor, 77, who won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, could not attend the function as he is unwell. However the award will be conferred upon the yesteryear actor in Mumbai on May 20.
